Is fediverse turning into reddit?
-
It’s on the top of the pic. Bro! Lol
yup my bad. also found this tho...
what a fucking shitshow of a community.
-
I was extremely tempted to go to the user's profile and downvote a bunch of stuff at random.
I decided that was childish and inflammatory and changed my mind, although I do still think it would be a little bit funny. I also did find the mod's original comment, and discovered you can still downvote comments which have been deleted out of cowardice. It's now at -31 votes so presumably some other people had the same idea.
OP edited his comment to show what it said lol.

Bro, what the hell?

Prying into who has downvoted you is just not a healthy habit to get into. If you run your own instance, it's important to just never use that ability.
IMO, this is the kind of DM that is best ignored. I think most of us don't want these communities to work like that; don't give it any oxygen.
-
Perhaps everyone should message the mod with a simple "Sup, bro?"
That would be very stupid.

Yeah I'm blocking them and everyone in the comments here too for being obnoxious and harassing the alleged mod. Your kind are not welcome here, go do your performative outrage over a simple word choice elsewhere, "bro".
-
How is "bro" toxic...? I can see how someone who isn't a dude objecting to being called one, but that's not an issue with the word itself
wrote last edited by [email protected]As a woman who works with men, "bro" and "man" (thanks, man) seem to signify comradarie that I don't receive. It's not a big enough deal to bring up in the workplace, but I associate it with feeling left out and it makes me sad sometimes. Since you asked.

only people with problems have that level of insecurity
-
Yeah plus harassing the person in DMs. Pathetic childish behavior both from the alleged mod and the commenters.
-
I’m not your compadré, amigo
bro. am i doing this right?
-
I don't know if responding to this with harassment would be the best course of action. Prob best to just block
This thread exists to justify harassment regardless of the initial thing

["bro" is] often used either to diminish what someone says or as a false slow of friendship
As petty and lame the warning and ban was, I can't exactly argue with this statement. I can understand where that's coming from. It's not true for me personally, but I bet it is with others.
Either way, that's such a basic word that we can't ban its use, come on bro...
-
And dbzer0
hell, i didn't even get approved to go to dbzer0. I applied and they outright rejected me. No explanation why.
-
Downvotes? That's a banerino okalay dokalay.

I really don't think that a weird DM from 1 person in 1 comm on piefed counts as "The fediverse."
I mean, don't we still have The Fediverse Chick? What ever happened with that? She totally undoes, like, 7 weird DMs like this.

sensitive snowflake, what are the chances he ones of the political extremes. if this was reddit, the person making an unsoliciated messaged wouldve been banned, or both because reddit has a very aggressive AI moderation system, plus thier spam/bot filters are easily triggered by any number of things, this would severely reduce the number of users on Lemmy if they had this.

He is right, though. He politely asked you to avoid some language at his channel. Why would you downvote that comment?
Downvotes for disagreements were part of the downfall of reddit.
