When you go to karaoke, do you/your group usually sing seriously, with your heart, give it your best or do you sing as to make fun of the songs in a playful way?

Sincerely, not sarcastically.

Depends on the mood and the song. I usually try to sing the best I could. But occasionally I try to be playful.
It has been a very very long time since I went to karaoke, but I went a lot when I was young.

I'll add my own experience: in uni, we'd go in groups where half sung from their heart and the other half (I was in this one) was mostly sarcastic...I always wondered if it was because each subgroup was from a different culture (sincere singing: friends from asian country(ies), insencere: friends from european countries).

I typically am obnoxious (think singing ALL 5 min and 12 seconds of bad company's feel like making love in the most over the top way possible) and my friends heckle me. The heckling part is important.

I always give it my best and do a wonderfully mid job

I usually try to sing well (even though I'm bad at it)
However I also like to choose satiric songs whichSo a bit of both worlds for me, I suppose

Like I don't think I would ever pour my heart and soul into a Bloodhound Gang song.

Good singing is fun for everyone. Bad singing is funny for everyone. Mediocre singing is close enough for everyone to know what you tried to do, and far enough away for everyone to know you missed. I'm a mediocre singer, I lean into my weaknesses in karaoke.

You should … doggy style like that you can both watch X-Files

I'm certainly not going to be able to sing with my whole heart and soul while also maintaining an erection. Singing takes a lot of oxygen.

You absolutely should. Shaggy is another excellent choice. Or be that person who sings the Macarena.

The two are not mutually exclusive! My go to song is Even Flow by Pearl Jam. The only rough part is the 58 second guitar solo. I know it's 58 seconds because sometimes the screen mentions it lol. I usually just say "what's up (city), how y'all doing tonight?" But I need to come up with something longer to fill the space. Or just sing the guitar songs.

I'll go whole hog to Like Whiskey by Dixon Dallas.

I've managed to clear out a bar with my bad singing. It's not always funny for everyone.

the usual format is serious and fast songs then slowly moves to somewhat serious ballads and drunken slurred lyrics.
all in good time.

I would rather be dipped in a vat of molten lava than go to karaoke, so... Sarcastically, I guess?

Depends on the amount of alcohol that has been consumed

Last time it was serious. It is questionable if it was actually karaoke, though, as they did not have the soundtrack in the system, so we just sang a capella on that otherwise karaoke event.
