wrote on last edited by [email protected]I think this is a bit of a simplistic take. They were fleeing war and may not have had a ton of options of places to go. If they were Jewish, then getting citizenship in Israel, a developed country, was probably their quickest and easiest path out of Ukraine. It’s not actually that easy to get a residency visa in another country, and if you don’t have time to wait around what with bombs dropping, you’ll take what you can get, even if you don’t necessarily agree with the government and politics there.
