British holidaymakers could face shorter airport queues this summer with negotiators on the verge of striking an agreement for UK passport holders to use e-gates across Europe.

Downing Street said on Saturday that it was poised to strike a deal with the EU that would improve things for British families facing “queues on holiday”.

The Guardian understands officials on both sides are in talks about allowing British travellers to use e-gates reserved for people from the EU or European Economic Area when arriving at airports in Europe, ending the current two-queue system.

Why do Britons want to visit countries of people they don't want to live next to?

Just a reminder that Brexit was a very close referendum and a lot of us would rather have much closer ties to the EU (or just rejoin, but I don't see that happening any time soon). I was too young to vote at the time, while people like my grandad voted for it and then died and didn't have to live with the consequences. If I could, I would love to be able to live and work in EU countries and have more people from the EU living here, but we were screwed over by David Cameron, the Brexiteers and of course the ignorant/misinformed voters who voted for it.

Yup. And I'm American and voted against fascists, but here we are, and the world has to now start defending itself from the US.
