You're probably on the right track.

When there's a robust civil society, i think the sesame street shit can actually work. When you're negotiating with peers, or at least people who see you as people, you can get a lot done that way. When you have institutions that aren't just hollow boot licking contrivances of power they could be worth something.

It's not that it isnt ever effective, it's that its for a world that takes maintenance against entrenched inequality, a world we absolutely have not lived in for decades.

You're probably gonna save a lot of queers when they come for us. Maybe add to your cirriculum a quick conflict assessment of places you spend your time; just a few sentences and some encouragement could cut seconds of hesitation when ICE comes calling. Sorry if this is dumb; im not a tactical genius.

Wish i had literally any advice on being more proactive. Guess it'd just be deleted if i did. I hate that they can talk in public about killing us, but we cannot talk openly about even defense.

Well the first step would be to find a better place to discuss that stuff. Easier said than done but you are talking about things that are dangerous. It's not that they won't let you take steps. There's plenty they could do with a false flag. Crackdown, restrict, arrest. They have been doing this forever. Police used to send spies into union meetings. There is credible evidence that some of the most intense action taken during the labor movement was actually false flag stuff to get the governor of a state to crack down on labor.

I'm not saying don't. I'm saying treat it like a vacation and do all the research you can but in the most anonymous way you can. Forming groups is needed but keeping it to the right people is hard. Especially when really they want you to. They have been calling us the 'T' word for years. If that glove ever actually fits they'll have a field day.

Things as they are you are fighting a massive uphill battle. It needs fought but the means to fight it are quickly vanishing. Do you think I would have said any of this if my ID were attached to it?

Or if they just declare it does and not enough people are left to push back.

You want amything good, you need to defend it from the wealthy and their fascist attack dogs every second.

There really aren't very many of them, though. So of we wanted to, we could win this shit.

I recently learned there are only like 13,500 ICE agents right now.

There are way, way, way more people than that who hate ICE and, dare I say, at least that many people OK with taking them out...so...yeah, we totally could if we organized.

        But we aren't organizing.

Babe, your election doesnt mean shit. It wouldnt mean shit if there were a team of electoral good guys to ride in and save you, which there are not. If the election even happens and isnt rigged, which I'm not willing to bet on.

You need, barring more creative solutions, a gun.

They are coming. They will fuvking kill you. They will probably already have killed me. Your ballot will not stop them. Dipshits like you throwing fits about civility are why we cant kill them first.

But hey, maybe you've got enough privilege tgat they don't come for you until resistance is acceptable. I'll be long dead, so fuck you if you decide it's okay to fight back after they've already murdered me. Fuck you so hard. If you end up in the camps, im gonna write such a harsh burn on the walls in my own blood, hopefully they won't clean too well in the months between our kidnappings and you'll still be able to read it when you get there.

Oh my bad I was talking about restoring long term funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

If you trying to squad up, Lemmy or any public forum ain’t the best place to do that.

Because every cop exists to disrupt organizing. And it's scary.

But your election wont do for that either.

Even if the dems would do that, if they wanted that (they wont, they don't) they wont get to take office even if there is another election-im not even sure they'd take office if the other team let them have an honest win, because i think so much is being asked of them, that they would find an excuse to not take office. The ratchet is only supposed to turn one way.

And then you'd have to rebuild the whole damn thing, which I'm not even sure they know how to do.

Then there's all the other stuff we're gonna lose before thats even suppised to happen. Like national parks, critical freedoms, whole flavors of ice cream, and, for many, our lives.

And i get real pissed at people like you with their heads up their asses about voting. Civil society is dead, rip, stop fucking the corpse and help make a new one, please.

Every time the people get angry enough for meaningful change, the system releases the tension through a mixture of temporary concessions and state-violence: carrot and stick. They never let us push our frustration to its logical conclusion.

We’re still in the first act of the scenario you think is certain.
Meanwhile WDET is going to be short $700,000 next fiscal year and that’s what I was thinking about when I originally commented.
Had I realized we were not on the same page I wouldn’t have replied to your comment directly.

Help replace the lost funding. $5/month or $60/year to your local station gets you access to PBS Passport streaming.

If you want to, you can donate more when you sign up, those are just the minimums.

Organizing on social media is virtually impossible. Also individual ICE agents are easy to replace. They are not the billionaires calling the shots.

They’re easy to replace at first. Once it becomes widely recognized that joining ICE=getting lynched by an angry mob in the streets, people will be much less likely to join.

No the politicians will simply send in the military.

The politicians and billionaires should be afraid to send ICE agents after people.
