    As you wish.

I came here looking for it, so I may as well follow through on the prompt.

Don't you unplug it and plug it back in again?

I unplug my router so the IP changes and hacker can no longer find me. Check & Mate.

        • X, the former Twitter, has experienced a worldwide outage as of 12PM on Monday CAT.
        • This is likely the first major outage of the company since Musk took ownership in 2022.
        • The outage seems to have only lasted for about half an hour.

The data at downforeveryoneorjustme make it appear that "only lasted for about half an hour" is BS. In fact, they appear to be having problems again this morning.

Do we know if that was real or if the media was just exaggerating things

I remember there was a time after Musk took over that they changed the API so that only logged in users could access it. That broke all of their widgets on third-party websites, which Twitter neglected to update. The widgets phoned home every few seconds, which DDOSed themselves with their own widgets.

Lemmy uses pretty standard markdown, so this works in lots of forums besides lemmy.

Remember when Russia had all those cyber attacks and suddenly, a huge chunk of Reddit stopped spewing hate?

I see. I also just discovered in Mlem that the little toolbar when composing a post can be scrolled left to right. Thanks for the info!

was that the command that deleted (almost permanently) Toystory 2?

                    Looking it up, pretty close.

The work done on the film to date was nearly lost in 1998 when one of the animators, while routinely clearing some files, accidentally entered the deletion command code /bin/rm -r -f * on the root folder of the Toy Story 2 assets on Pixar's internal servers.

Oh no. So anyway, tonight we're having a stereotypical American meal that takes 25 minutes off your life; Sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad. It's quite good, everything made from scratch since I don't have a job anymore. How about you?

                      Chakalaka.

Dice an onion and a bell pepper, throw it into plenty of fat, sizzle until the onions are glassy, add some chilli (pickled is fine the end result can use some acid), not too little English curry powder, mix well, making sure the powder is roasted (it changes taste quite drastically), top with a grated carrot or two (veggie proportions are up to taste), put on the lid and let steam on medium heat (err towards low), once steamed (the carrot shreds basically fall apart) add a can of baked beans. Those don't need to be cooked, just let the stuff stand for a bit until everything is at equal temperature.

Eat as-is or with whatever, rice works well. Probably works with any curry mix I just happen to be out of Thai for a surprising amount of time now so I didn't try yet. Size-wise I'd say that the onion should be cut about half the size the beans are, and the bell pepper pieces to be about twice as large as the beans. If you want carrot pieces you can do that but I'd still suggest shredding some so that it can dissolve some sweetness into the saucy part.

Elon's blaming DDOS. You know I heard that the people who bulit Twitter did a great job figuring out how to handle those. Gosh, I wonder what ever happened them?

                            DDOS on what exactly?

                            Which service? Graphql?

Yeah, I really could not understand the motivation behind that. Why throw away such a valuable brand? I mean the name was even a clever play on words that also gave them a cute bird icon/mascot.

"Twitter", with that bird logo is just a slam dunk, that's solid gold branding... It's insane to randomly "go a different direction" and then land at "X". If I was their brand coordinator or director of marketing when they made that change, I'd resign then and there.

Changing their name to "X" was essentially lighting 20% of their assets on fire on day 1.

losing just 20% is probably a best case scenario for musk IMO.
