My parents had an '88 Marquis that had cigarette lighters in the back doors. On a road trip as a kid, I learned how quickly those lighters heat up: pretty fast. Don't test it yourself.

Oldsmobile 98. 3 tons of mailbox plowing steel bumpers, orange barrel throwing, luxuriously spaced seating, so much chrome it upsets local birds, and steel steel steel. Bumps in the road? Lol. Was that a twig or a curb we just rolled over? Cant tell. Can fit an extra three persons in the trunk comfortably with the subs and amps, if necessary, or a honda 185 three wheeler, and is unstoppable with a set of chains on the back in the snow. Longer than the Short Bus, a back seat that made most king size mattresses blush, with the gas mileage to match. Oh how I miss you Hooptie. RIP.

Ah. The memories of being a wee kid and heating them up. And touching the red hot element.
I think that's one of those experiences that everyone that has been near them as a kid has had.

Old luxury cars are the bomb. My girlfriend has an 84 Cadillac Eldorado project that has a cig lighter and ash tray for every seat - which is awesome on road trips when everyone wants a device charger. Plus they're super super comfortable. Even on old suspension it feels like riding on a floating couch.

Now if only the engine swap we did could keep any of its engine oil inside the oil pan, it'd be great...

Especially on the toilets, they are there for safety reasons

If you're stupid enough to light up on the plane, you have a secure way to discard it.
Else the idiot will try to "hide" it somewhere and potentially start a fire

Yup, had two of them. A 74 with the 455 and an 83 with the 307. Oddly, they both got about the same mileage, but the 455 was way more fun.

I did it once back in '96 I think I'm a friend's car that was a vomit of a post soviet auto industry. And then did it again few months ago while explaining what's that thing in our VW golf to my kid.

I had a 70 Olds 98 with the Rocket 455. You could literally hear the gas pouring into the dinner-plate sized carburetor when you floored it. Had it for two or three days and the janky wiring caught fire and it burned up. Probably for the best really.

Yes they were. My grandfather had an old Lincoln town car and he smoked like a train and the driver ash tray was always full. And he would drive with the driver window open even if it was snowing or raining and the water would get into the ash tray and omg! The door below the tray looked like an oil spill.

Had an 99 Crown Victoria. When I had to check all four tires, I'd pack a day-bag and carry extra water.
