OK, honestly I’m not going to celebrate a murder. But nothing can stop me from appreciating the heck out of the irony.

a dog whistle has nothing to do with the facts but a shared agreement between people in the know as to its hidden meaning.

Golden Earring - Twilight Zone for the lyrics

"Where am I to go now that I've gone too far?
Soon, you will come to know when the bullet hits the bone"

Utah Saints - Something Good, for the hilarious, to me, coincidence between the song title, the band name and the location of the event

*NSYNC - Bye Bye Bye, need I say more

The worst thing you can to do an enemy is kill him. The worst thing he can do to you, is have you become just like him. Something to think about... or ignore, if youre already too far gone.

Why are you talking like I killed that motherfucker? What about the killer? What if MAGA destroyed his or her life? They’ve been destroying innocent people’s lives for so many years now. They are denying peoples right to exist, now someone just uno reversed that.

I have no sympathy with the devil. This sends out a good message, they are not safe and can not hide anymore. The list of assholes is veeeeeeery long and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming years.

I don't give a shit about Charlie Kirk, rest in piss, but my celebration is mildly stunted by the fact that this is a dangerous thing to normalize and this is a massive notch in that direction given how huge of a public figure he was and the nature of his assassination being so public.

Of course, the right is largely responsible for that normalization, and Charlie Kirk's death is actually on people like Charlie Kirk's very hands. However, for me its just the consequences and the dark future that this seems to push us further into.

Hopefully the right fails to capitalize on his death effectively and we move onto largely forgetting about the piece of shit.

I keep thinking about this angle. Maybe it’s a case of a double standard being ok? Like if some group of people are like “Don’t worry about me, I don’t need any empathy” and others say, “I hope you will show me empathy” then I don’t see why a single standard has to be applied.

Not sure if you agree with this analogy but for example as a male, I don’t mind if a woman says something to me that might be considered intimidating if the roles were reversed. Sure, I need to be mindful of whether she might cause harm to someone who isn’t me, but again, I don’t need to apply a single universal approach to myself if I know in my heart it’s not necessary.

Anyway, maybe the stronger rebuttal is “That’s not what he meant”.

"Everybody in the thread just did what Kirk asked them to..." And you dont see the problem there?

As for the world being a better place... I highly doubt it, since hes now going to be a rallying cry for action against "the left". Hes a martyr now, a symbol that right wing lunatics while cling to as they march down the streets demanding Trans people are butchered, immigrants, legal and otherwise, are shot in the streets. "We need you, Trump, to do a third term. Its a civil war out here, dont you know?" will be next.

Shooting people is never, ever, your first resort in silencing a voice. Facts and words are. Violence only ever causes more violence. Someone out there today, he never hurt anyone, is going to pay the price for what happened to Kirk. You know its true. You all do. Yet youre all still all over social media happy, and cheering, and back slapping.

Yup because negative consequences weren't a thing before the guy was shot

One side cannot unilaterally declare peace. We've tried for years and they made it clear the terms of peace are to redefine it so their violence against innocents is peace in absence of opposition.

Now being massively rude and dehumanizing to others is an active choice one makes, that’s not a outgroup that one is in through any choice but their own.

Unfortunately, this perspective misses a crucial truth. Most abusers have a history of being abused themselves (1). They are trapped in a relentless cycle of anger, rejection, and pain, struggling to escape a reality where kindness feels foreign and unrecognizable. Breaking this cycle is profoundly challenging, as it demands consistent empathy and kindness from others—qualities they initially perceive as weaknesses. This is the very lesson they absorbed in their formative years.

They see their worldview validated as angry mobs of self-proclaimed "good guys" cause and celebrate intentional agitation, hurt, and violence.

If those are "good guys", then there's no good in the world, only power, winners and losers - a logical conclusion, were the premise valid, isn't it?

You’re arguing that the rest of the party should feel bad for the asshole that was kicked out.

Exactly! Vilify behaviour instead of people. Try to protect your friend that's being bullied by supporting his behaviour. Recognize that everyone can be hurt or wronged, as well as can hurt and do wrong.

                          In other words: be empathic.

They’re not being bullied for their behavior, they are being bullied for their existence (unless you’re suggesting one support the bulling behavior). In our current environment there is no shortage of people reinforcing and welcoming the bullying behavior and decrying the existence of the bullied. If it was an issue of unfamiliarity you would have a point but that’s not the environment that exists and I’d prefer to make the bullied feel welcomed than the oppressor with what limited time and resources I have.

We all have choices to make, you seem to have chosen to make the oppressors and bullies feel more welcome with your time.

(Also, your link says that people who are ostracized by others tend to continue that cycle not that people who ostracized others were themselves victims of ostracization in the past. That’s swapping cause-and-effect, and doesn’t support your contention)

That’s why you just had to go out of your way to point out that gang activity comes from people of color. Not to mention lecturing to people of color about what YOU don’t find offensive. 😂 Thank you for your contribution, goodbye. 🙂

The problem with this is that it will be used to increase violence against non-white cis males.

So many of them are convinced all gun violence is coming from the left, and at this point I'm ready to just let them have their delusions. What are they going to do about it? Implement gun control? Please do

Nobody is solely the bully or bullied. That's what seperates empathy from parochial empathy: understanding not only people who are like, but also those who are unlike.

It truely is the only way to heal.

You might misunderstand the meaning of the word cycle?

Comical to me how many people in soooooo many posts about this just HAVE to go out of their way to note they aren't celebrating or some blah blah about any human dying.

OK, honestly I’m not going to celebrate a murder. But nothing can stop me from appreciating the heck out of the irony.

"I cannot wish death upon a man, but I have read some obituaries with great delight."
