For the universal updater go here:

    https://support.8bitdo.com/firmware-updater.html

If your controller is not detected, you might be on an older FW version that is not detectable by the universal updater. How do I know this? Because my SN30 Pro SN Edition wasn't detected for this exact reason.

If this is the case, go here to access legacy firmware:

    https://download.8bitdo.com/Firmware/Controller/

Update your controller to the latest version for your device, and then try the universal updater again.

Also, make sure your controller is in update mode. For the SN30Pro you do this by pressing L+R+START and the red light on top starts flashing. It might be different for other controllers though.

Hopefully this helps someone. It took me quite some time to find the legacy firmware installers to fix my controller.

I have a 8bitdo adapter 2 to use a ps5 controller on the switch 2. I updated the switch 2 patch, but sadly i not really usable because the input delay is to big to play anything action heavy. Hope it works better with the controller.

Also to check if your controller has received update, see the update log on 8bitdos support page.

They are releasing updated firmwares as they get ready.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have any noticeable lag on my end. Although I updated the controller for my wife to use with Tetris (since the dpad is better), so she will be the real test. She hasn't used it yet

i noticed it at mario kart world. At first i thought is was fine enough steering felt ok, maybe, but not able to do trick boost with the correct timing made it basically unusable.

Maybe email them about it? If they updated the adapter for switch 2, then perhaps they just need to find tune it and issue another firmware update.
