You cannot take off the political hat when a side has decided to discard human rights. That side is WRONG. There can be no discussion on that. Every dispute entertained on that subject is another person dead, their life extinguished. Do YOU accept blame for the death of a person run over by bureaucracy, by capitalism, by systematic oppression? If the answer is no, then you have no right to even entertain a system that allows it.

there is no divide. it's manufactured outrage to consolidate conservatives behind a singular movement and target their wrath at anything not on their side.
Kirk was a fascist spreading ideological bigot. He didn't deserve to die but nobody should be mourning his death but those who were closest to him.
trust no one who uses the death of a man to propel themselves forward, for they have no honor or morals that direct them and you will soon find yourself a target for their next opportunity.

Political violence is always the last, worst option. Sometimes it's the only option but that wasn't the case here.
Kirk was a pretty awful person, who profited from spreading hatred. He didn't just have an opinion, he had an agenda.

At this point, there is not enough conclusive evidence to determine the shooter's beliefs. A lot of the evidence is contradictory and keeps getting retracted and overturned.
I personally don't find the groyper narrative all that convincing, it seems like wishful thinking, but I don't think it can be entirely ruled out yet.
Those of us who are politically active been aware of the movement for years. It's absolutely not some new term.
It's not like this kind of violence is exclusive to the left. While left-wing violence is real and shouldn't be ignored, the claim that all violence is left-wing is simply not true.
The same day that Kirk was killed, a mass shooting happened in Colorado. The shooter was a neo-nazi. Charlie Kirk has been credited in at least one shooter's manifesto.
Every time a far-right guy commits a mass shooting, your side claims that the shooter is a "lone wolf". Why does this act of violence not get the same treatment?
Why is every single conservative mass shooting not related to the conservative media ecosystem?
Folks like Tucker Carlson, Libs of Tiktok, Matt Walsh, spread rhetoric far more violent than anything I've seen people on the left say in response this shooting.
People like that constantly dehumanize others. They openly call for minorities to be removed from society.
The tendencies you talk about are in no way exclusive to the left.
(To be clear, I do not condone the killing. It should not have happened. It's sad that violence has been normalized in this country to this point)

I think you're right not to spend any energy on this, and I agree that it would be performative to pretend to be sad that he left the world. In some ways, our society is better for normalizing honest reactions to things.
However: I want to encourage you to think about what it means to define him as vermin. Within the meaning of this word is the belief that he is low enough on a hierarchy of worth that he no longer falls under the protections and values we afford to "human". And furthermore, he is of a group that can only be effectively dealt with through extermination.
Personally, I don't think this is a useful philosophical concept. It's very central to the philosophies that Charlie Kirk sought to popularize: the idea that some people, through their worldview and lifestyle have forfeited any minimum universal protections we afford to humans, and instead should be eradicated. Obviously, his criteria of human worth was more or less an inverse of yours, but personally I'd reject his overall framework.
I'm really sure whether I truly disagree with it. But I definitely believe that the framework itself inherently benefits the fascist project far, far more than it could benefit a socialist project.
I definitely don't encourage you to mourn him. But I would encourage you to ask whether you really think there's utility in agreeing with him at all on the principle that humans can be vermin.

Charlie Kirk was a terrible human being. The world is better off without him. I don't believe in Hell, but I hope I'm wrong.
While it's traumatic to lose a parent, his kids have the opportunity to be better off without him.
The shooter is a terrible person. I'm glad he was so stupid that he confessed to his dad. It takes the spotlight off decent people. I don't care what happens to him.
Political violence sucks. It's a terrible way to enact change, mainly because the most violent are typically the most unhinged, and then they take power afterward.
