In a speech on the Senate floor, U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Co-Chair of the Senate Ukraine Caucus, asked for unanimous consent (UC) to pass a simple resolution he introduced condemning Russia’s abduction of Ukrainian children and called on Russia to work with the international community to return all abducted Ukrainian children to their families.

Since Russia’s full-scale war of aggression started in 2022, the Russian government has abducted, forcibly transferred, or facilitated the illegal deportation of at least 20,000 Ukrainian children. Senate Republicans rejected the resolution. They also objected to every other straightforward resolution offered by Senate Democrats, including urging Russian President Putin to end the war, clarifying that Russia started the war, stating that Russia committed war crimes, reaffirming the U.S.-Ukraine relationship and support for its sovereignty, and clarifying that no nation should forcibly seize territory of another.

maaan could it be any clearer the republicans hate our Ukrainian allies. this is a slam dunk easy win and still they'd rather capitulate to the russian overlords. you know, until 2016, the one thing in america you could count on was no politician would fuck with russia. republicans hated them because they used to be communist, democrats hated them because they're openly fascist. now we got a weird mix of republicans loving them because they're openly fascists and certain "leftists" loving them because they used to be "communist"

maaan we're all out here falling for the oldest trick in the book. a populist is out here lying about what's the plan and people are buying it. it's so sad

the antichrist is charismatic and weilds religion to do things against what christ taught by tricking the people to believe he's the second coming. nothing is new, and a guide to seeing the warning signs of all this is published within their religion's manual. but they've all been taught since birth to misinterpret the warning

Hmm ... This seems like literally just US news. Even if the resolution had passed, it wouldn't immediately have had any effect on Europe.

A quick reminder that any peace deal must include the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.

Tangential story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_children_of_Francoism I wonder if they would've objected to this too.
