A small art gallery in Japan just happened to have these pictures next to each other. And then it morphed into a popular meme template

Oh fuck, I think I just got shitpost all over me.
You have been coaxed into a snafu!

I want these as pillows
I had the same thought

So you're saying that:
- some artists created these art pieces
- they were randomly hung up next to each other in an art gallery
- this became a meme
- somebody went and found a screenshot of a 2011 TV show AND a 2018 tumblr post that matched it
- that became a meme so popular that everybody forgot about the original and not even knowyourmeme remembers
- You, our savior, are here to remind us of the true origin of this meme
Here's a more plausible explanation:
- The art looks rather AI-generated in HD
- The photo isn't from an art gallery but just somebody's house, see link above where you can literally order these as decoration
- You forgot to fact-check before posting
- The photo isn't from an art gallery but just somebody's house
Maybe you should do a little fact checking: nobody can afford their own house anymore. You're whole explanation falls apart and OP's seem much more plausible again

Looooooootta commenters in here aren't noticing where this was posted.
Shhh. Don't tell them. You'll ruin the fun!
