Once you show the horsies that they're being treated like disposable animals it's gg

I remember playing something similar back in the day, the difference was that the pawn side got to move twice each turn.
-
What happens if one of the ruling class pieces gets behind the pawns, couldn't they pick them off slowly?
-
Variations like this are pretty standard for chess students.

surely only the 4 front black pawns can advance, all other pawns are locked in place by the polarising media owned by the elite
unless the 4 white pawns at the back become queens and can advance in any direction, because they're glamourous trendsetters from wealthy backgrounds who also want to take down the elite

And if a pawn gets promoted, it's a class traitor and becomes your opponent's piece?

how about that counts as breaching the armoury and having access to their weapons?
-
Anecdotal but I have not enjoyed it so far.
-
Is this a commentary on how some of the pawns get to the end and become Queens, thus perpetuating the cycle?

It would be funny if there was a condition that made them join the other side after being promoted.

Pawns can be promoted to queens when they get to the other side, and when the elite pieces get past the pawns they get promoted to 'media', and can slowly, but surely, pick them off.

I don't think it would be particularly fun.
Sacrifice a tower (I forgot the English name) to get access to a corner, then get the queen in the lower left/right corner within 3 moves.
Then pick up the pawns one after the other from behind. The pawns themselves cannot move quickly to the other side because they need to keep a "triangle" formation for safety which requires time to build up.

Still, a good way to get rid of some troublesome pawns.

I'm not sure a sacrifice is even needed. You just need to get the queen to the backline and wreak havoc.

While we're at it, the elite white side has no shortage of pawns making over $100k with a nice sign-on bonus.

If they stay in formation you can always force a sacrifice. The pawns will always capture at least one piece.

Yeah, but you can kill off like three elites towards one side and you'll have open access to get behind the pawns with a queen or rook and just lay waste unchecked.

The word you're looking for is Rook.
