They got confused and thought they were talking about actual Zendaya.

I'm pretty sure their point is tabloids exist because there's a market of thousands if not millions of people that want to know about and think about people they don't know, such as this guy.

Yeah, but that isn't why people like it. Like Harry potter and Wizarding world of the transphobe.

You expressed surprise that Herbert is a rabid conservative. I pointed out that the book you claim to like is a celebration of fascism.

Yeah, but that isn't why people like it.

Correct. People like Dune because it’s the biggest book they’ve read, not because they were paying attention to the prose or narrative quality of its insane plot.

The storyline is a fascism. Frank thought libertarianism would stop what he was writing about. He didn't want fascism but wrote about it. The second book is mostly about Paul falling apart and dying. Even though he thought he could follow a perfect path to being a perfect leader.

I personally don't care much about literary complexity. I find it interesting, and that's all that matters to me. If you disagree, that's fine too.

Fair enough. I don’t begrudge your enjoyment.

Zendaya was great in spiderman but she's the absolute worst choice for chani. Her "too cool for school" sarcastic persona doesn't fit with a primitive tribal religious fanatic at all.

To non US people who aren't exposed to the same celebrity overexposure (unless it's by choice) and have no particular opinion on Zendaya, she's ok. Haven't seen part 2 though.

It's not celebrity overexposure in my case. I like Zendaya, I'm not tired of her and would like to see her in more stuff. I just think she was the wrong actress to play chani.

I've noticed a lot of infantile and absurdly maximalist takes on Lemmy lately. it's kind of souring me on the project.

Yes, thank you. For some reason, I'm always surprised when trying to be evocative backfires into misunderstanding.

The edit to make "Surely" bold is the icing on the cake.
