is Lemmy the most popular 'Reddit Alternative'?

What makes piefed better than Lemmy?
Subjectively speaking, after switching to Piefed I feel like "the internet is back".
Engaging conversation, good tools for filtering the front page to your liking, and the audience seems generally speaking more mature. I do expect that to change if the platform grows in size.

maybe we could also say lemmy+fediverse, like we say GNU+Linux
Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Richard Stallman told us ‘What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my computer like a car, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the workday – I don’t remember what workday - he pressed the wrong button on the Thread. Question for you both: is Personal Computing today too complicated with twenty and more social media on the threadiverse, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the thread? Less federation, more? Or less and more communication with your Lemmy admin?

Probably. I went searching specifically for reddit alternatives. Found Lemmy immediately and haven't bothered to go looking for others. I assume many here followed the same path I did.
We're pretty lazy as a species.
Don't worry, I put a lot more effort into finding alternatives and still landed here.

My guess would be redlib as the most popular. It lets you read Reddit without having to turn off your VPN or log in.
I wouldn't really consider that an alternative but that is probably more popular than lemmy

The most popular Reddit alternative is day drinking and screaming racist abuse at passers by on the street.
You don't even have to register!

You can export your Lemmy preferences and subscriptions, then create new account at piefed and import the Lemmy stuff.
What app do you use for piefed?

"Finding people to follow" struck me as odd. Discussing interests with like-minded people or just lurking and reading smart or dumb things would be the standard, at least in my experience. Maybe your path makes more sense. I'm a bit of an introvert so I usually avoid engaging.
Discussing interests with like-minded people
Facebook: discussing different things with friends
Reddit: discussing the same things with strangers -
I'm pissed that so many people went to Bluesky instead of Mastodon
Less people on Mastodon, to me, means that the Mastodon community is more purposeful across their instances. Less bloat/spam/etc

or is there another platform that is..
Most popular, probably, but that doesn't mean it's popular. There are some old phpBB forums with more users than all of Lemmy combined.

What app do you use for piefed?
Voyager on android, which is kind of beta-ish, but works good enough. And default web UI which I really like on desktop PC. The only feature I miss in Voyager so far is that "aggregated" threads on desktop, which is an awesome feature.
