Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?
-
Hollywood is starting to make me dislike Pedro Pascal only because he's in EVERY DAMN THING.
I actually like the guy, but overexposure is a thing. And he could stand to just chill for a little while.
I don’t mind since he’s such a good person in real life, but I see how overexposure can be a problem

I absolutely agree with you about Stranger Than Fiction. Mine would be Adam Sandler, do not like that style of comedy. The only exception is Punch Drunk Love. One of my favourite movies! Also Jim Carey, except for Yes Men.
Before now I was the only person I know who likes that movie.
-
For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.
But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.
Leo DiCaprio. No exceptions. The movies he's been in that I've enjoyed were enjoyed despite him and not because of him.
His entire approach to a character is to put on an over-the-top accent and call it a day. I've never had the sense that any of his characters were the actual character and weren't just "Leo with an accent". I'll be fair and say that he has improved in recent years, with movies like The Revenant being tolerable.
But holy shit, how his career went anywhere when people saw his "acting" in Titanic and especially Romeo and Juliet, is mind-boggling to me.

Ben Stiller. I just can't get into anything he's in. He's just reading lines, nepo-baby for sure.
Exceptions: dodgeball, and tropic thunder, holy FUCK is he funny in tropic thunder
If those are your exceptions, strongly recommend Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Gorgeous scenery and a shot at stiller acting

"he's hot" there ya go

Have you seen The Basketball Diaries?

Bautista was great and honestly showed more range than anyone else. Yeah, it was comical and a little extreme, but it worked.
the interviews hes done, he actually works on his acting, and takes tips from others.
-
yee gads that wiki profile pic does him no favors.
Had to look it up, but yep, that's certainly him alright.

Most movies I’ve seen him in he’s done a good job, playing someone comical in the MCU films or someone more serious like in Blade Runner 2049. I don’t think he gets taken seriously because he’s a wrestler, but he's got a long filmography.
-
I hate him, too, but he was good in Blade Runner 2049. I mean, the role should have come naturally since he was playing a narcissistic sociopath.
Oh, I hated his role in Blade Runner 2049. Not his acting, just the role. It seemed forcefully implanted in the story to make it more action-filled. I also hated the recreation of young Rachel concept. It made no sense to me and felt like it should make no sense to Decart either. I wish Leto's role would have been toned down to allow for the film's meditative and well emotionally built parts to shine.

At 6, it's practically a guarantee. All kids are psychopaths until about 10.
My cousin once stabbed me in the leg with a pair of scissors and thought it was hilarious.
I have no expertise on anything, but neither of my two children have stabbed me, nor others I have been around, just in case the anecdotal evidence helps anything.

wrote last edited by [email protected]i the MCU made him into comic relief, thats why he isnt taken seriously, it doesnt do him justice to stay in MCU, maybe because of PRATT thats why he isnt allowed to outshine chris pratt.

Vin Diesel. Nothing against the guy personally, but his whole dumb guy thing just irks me.
wrote last edited by [email protected]better than rock, lol, rock was such camera whore.(all those complaints against him during 2F2F.
-
That's because he isn't acting. Somewhere along the line he stopped being the actor known as Ryan Reynolds and just became the character Ryan Reynolds.
he plays as deadpool only.
-
I feel the same way about Adam Sandler except for Punch Drunk Love. the right role makes a big difference.
I think Punch Drunk Love was his best serious role, but I also remember liking Reign Over Me and Spanglish. His more recent Uncut Gems was pretty good too.

I cannot, for the life of me understand the appeal of Russell Crowe. Except I have no problem with his brutish density in L.A. Confidential.
-
He was the highest paid actor a couple years ago so unfortunately I think we have to count him as an actor. He wasn't getting paid nearly as much in the WWE I don't think. He's nearing billionaire status. If he does barely anything he should probably hit it in the next 2-3 years.
a movie star perhaps, but not a true actor, as he cant act for shit, and i think he cares more about the movie star status more than acting, and he doesnt try. dave bautista can act though.
-
Part of the "I have a career because I smoke weed and drink with the actually talented stars" club
I would buy that if he was just an actor. The fact that he's written and produced most of the shit that he acts in doesn't happen because you smoke weed, it's in spite of it.

Danny McBride. I can grit my teeth if he's playing a small role, 30 Minutes or Less was pushing the limit, but he so often plays the same insufferable, arrogant asshole and he plays it too well.

Zombieland
Social Network
Though both those were good despite him
Id forgotten about zombieland. I now have an exception for the purposes of the original post, thank you! I’d avoided the social network because i also can’t stand mark zuck
