What are some very beautiful and emotional movies? (Preferrably those about very grandiose or profound themes)

The Fall was fantastic. Too bad it's not available anywhere, even to buy.

For stoic men (and maybe women, who knows?) Captain Phillips... but not till the end. It sneaks up on you.

Can confirm Your Lie In April made me cry like a baby. But I would say anime wise Violet Evergarden was even more cathartic. I ugly cried more than once watching it.

It's one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen, and the story will tear your heart out.

When the Wind Blows
In this hand-drawn animated tale, elderly married couple Hilda (Peggy Ashcroft) and Jim Bloggs (John Mills) have their quiet, simple lives in the English countryside interrupted when they learn of an impending nuclear attack. Not completely understanding the gravity of their situation, Hilda and Jim react archaically and insufficiently after the attack -- and the film takes a dark turn as the radiation begins taking its toll on the unsuspecting couple.

haven't watched a lot of shows that aren't anime so here are my recs:

- Your lie in april (tv series, apparently really good at making you cry but haven't watched it)

your name and a silent voice have really good animation btw
i almost cried during weathering with you which is a movie in the same universe as your name but it isn't as emotional as your name ig

Many good movies have been mentioned already (especially Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, Big Fish, Manchester by the sea and The Fountain).
I would like to add:
- Finding Neverland
- Captain Fantastic
And if you want to absolutely destroy yourself: Prayers for Bobby.

Not so much a movie but you should watch The Last of Us up to the first 3 episodes. I got through Episode 3 and it had me in tears the whole day
You don't need to watch the first two episodes to enjoy episode 3. I played it for a friend of mine recently. I just skipped the beginning with the main characters. She loved it.
