A startup is releasing a remarkably cheap motorcycle. For $1,000, Africans get a motorcycle with 60 miles of range and a 56 mph top speed.

As of now, Zeno is targeting Africa and India with pricing roughly equivalent to $1,000 for the model with the battery subscription. Zeno says it’s selling the first 5,000 battery subscription-based units in India for about $750 before the price goes up to $1,000.

According to Zeno, the subscription is $17 per month for up to 48 kWh of energy or $29 per month for up to 120 kWh of energy.

It's $30 to get access to their battery distribution network, which is optional. That might be a pretty good deal for some if the network is good enough, but you could just buy everything yourself and charge at home/work/etc without the sub.

If I ride motorcycles this would be pretty interesting.

We need more things priced under $2k like this. So many manufacturers trot out models with 60 miles of range and the power of a Grom and manage to make it $5k+ when a Grom can be had for under $4k. A Grom gets 100+mpg and is a hoot to ride, and a Navi has similar power and costs $2k.
