Trump announces 'permanent' tariffs on foreign cars
-
A lot of Japanese cars are made in the US.
So do several German manufacturers. Most of the BMW X cars are assembled in America.
-
American cars are already near impossible to sell in Europe. Terrible fuel economy, to large and bad turning radius for European cities with small roads, things like cyber trucks and other oversized pickups are probably not road legal because of pedestrian crash safety regulations.

don't forget shit quality

Nobody wants American cars. I guess up until recently Tesla was the exception, but that was already changing before Musk decided to go full mask off.
-
Just nuke us.

His hand kind of looks brown like rotting meat.

So what defines a “foreign” car? BMW builds the X3 in South Carolina and VW builds their SUVs in Tennessee. However Ford builds the Bronco in Mexico. So which one will be tariffed?
-
Do we actually have clowns buying them over here? I didn't even think they were road legal anywhere
There's one in the garage of my apartment building. All i can think about when I see it is what a giant douche bag you have to be to buy something like that while living in a big city.

Under normal circumstances the car which crosses a border.
-
The Trump admin is doing its best to make sure that the US can no longer be measured. Those measures hit climate research and economics research both.
-

So Ford gets taxed while the “import” brand doesn’t. Another well thought out policy by this administration. My “foreign” car was built in Alabama.
-
Toyota builds Camry, Avalon, RAV4, and Lexus in Georgetown, KY.
If it means foreign brands, that will fuck over a lot of red state workers, if he means foreign built, maybe not.
-
Hyundai and Kia are Korean
Yeah, you're correct.
-
How does a human skin turn green? Is he so old and expired that fungus is forming under that?
I think IV catheters can cause skin discoloration, and the hand is a common place to put catheters. And he's an old bag of shit, he's probably in and out of hospitals as often as golf courses.
-
Is the tariff on cars, or parts? Or have they not figured that part out yet?
It's on both, but just learned that apparently it won't impact the parts that going back and forth across the border. It looks like those additional tariffs are still planned on April 2nd.

Yeah. An ex coworker of mine deemed it necessary to drive such a wankpanzer in our medium-sized german city over the astonishing distance of 5 kilometres to/from work.
-
Oh Donald, nothing is permanent.

Those are even legal in Europe? Some dude imported one here, as an impulse buy, as he had won a large money prize on Euro Millions, and it had the nastiest of ends, as he jammed the thing between two building in a narrow street. The car was cut to pieces on the spot, to be removed. The rumour mill spoke of nearly 75.000€ to the trash.

I saw a bunch in the Netherlands (in smaller towns and villages) and a few in Czechia.
NL has supposedly cracked down on the tax loophole which made these attractive to b entrepreneurs (something about imported vehicles), so hopefully we start seeing less of them over time.
