I don’t even care that we oppose it for the wrong reasons. Euro in current state can’t work unless your only goal is to remove friction in the market which is rather reductive. Once EU has a common fiscal policy and budget then let’s go but until then we should remember that domestic currency is essential tool for economic policy makers.

Well I guess that could be true. Especially, when business owners abuse the conversion to get the prices higher ( that happened in my country after the adoption, then later they had to lower it cause many stopped buying).
In general though it should make things cheaper, according to the theory.

Maybe, it's also about identity and being sceptical to the EU in general.

Yeah those are very valid reasons not to change. Can't blame them because it definitely will happen this way

What's so strange to me is that prices in the EU are regional anyways, independent of currency. Even inside Germany prices can vary from region to region. I moved from the west to the middle and although my salary went down my living standards remained the same.
