Sounds like insurance fraud to me. They keep the fucking shampoo under tighter lockdown. They're low-key encouraging somebody to steal these.

Nintendo has not only recently updated their TOS to state they can brick your console if they suspect you of pirating, but console manufacturers have been known to ban accounts
brickand or flag devices if they get connected before official launch. What will stop them from doing that immediately if you connect online before it's release date? I'm sure they already know which serial numbers are green lit for people with early access and which aren't. You won't be worrying about a day 1 update because you probably won't receive it, and you'll be locked to whatever game you're able to steal with it as long as it works offline.Your best option is try to flip it immediately to some other schmuck and hope wherever you post it doesn't alert authorities to you or just get removed for being clearly stolen.

Big citation needed on that. There's zero need for console manufacturers to do that when they can simply hold down the servers on their end until release date anyways, Never once heard of a device bricked simply because you received it early and tried using it.

What is the point of this article? Stores receive stock early so they can have it on launch day. They’re showing them in a secure manner to start garnering hype in advance.
