Signalling a shift in policy, Germany's interior minister has said the need for mediators to negotiate with Afghanistan's rulers is "not a permanent solution."

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has called for an agreement with the Taliban to receive Afghan convited criminals deported from Germany.

The Taliban took over Afghanistan's government in August 2021 following the NATO withdrawal. Since then, Germany has not had official diplomatic ties with the Taliban government, which it did not recognize as legitimate.

Last year, Germany flew Afghans who had been convicted with crimes to Afghanistan. The deportation took place after secret negotiations with mediator Qatar.

So I guess Dobrindt is also taking care of the remaining Afghan people who helped support the Bundeswehr during their mission and were promised place in Germany, right? RIGHT?

Sure, they just need to go to the closed German embassy in Kabul and fill out some paperwork. Afterwards they just need to go to Pakistan and from there they can be airlifted.

This unfortunately is based on true stories from the time shortly before and after the Taliban took power in Afghanistan again

The party of the interior minister Dobrindt, the CSU, did have their people meet with MAGA Republicans to discuss how to employ their tactics in Germany.

The Taliban has promised Germany that they would accept any asylum seeker deported back to Afghanistan if Germany opened an embassy for the Taliban in Germany

The Taliban flag now flies in Moscow, China is planning to do the same most likely the Taliban rules Afghanistan weather we like it or not

That's super frustrating to hear. Apparently we are all in a kettle swimming around as rich people literally and metaphorically raise the temperature until we boil.
