I don't keep up with trends because honestly, I don't know how people do, apparently I'm not in the right circles, but I watch this YouTuber's videos who tries to show how stupid and wasteful these trends are https://youtu.be/b8TRI63WkP8

The video lists out a few other collectable trends, some of which I forgot about (Labubus, Smiskis, Sunny Angels, Jelly Cats, Squishmallows, Stanley Cups, Beanie Babies)
I wonder how many of the expensive collectable sale stories are true. If I gave my friend $3000 and told them to buy my Fedivoo for that amount, that might hype up Fedivoos enough to get people buying them.
Time to launch my line of Fedivoos

I tried researching labubu but I'm still missing somethingIn the first picture, if you zoom in on the middle of the objects on the ground, you can see kind of a doll on top of the papers. Labubus are collectible dolls that come with a special guarantee of authenticity, and are popular enough they've already started making knockoffs. Imagine that someone remembered how Beanie Babies were supposed to be collectibles, but thought "they need to make everything more scarce, make sure that they can't be easily duplicated, and we'll charge $100 for each of them. But we'll make sure that people can't get the one they want, the one they get in the box will be random. And there's going to be a 'secret' one that you can only get through this $100 lottery."
Now imagine that example of needless, crass commercialism as an offering on top of Marx' grave.
