Switch 2 GameCube controller will only be offered to those who pre-order the console

I am using my Switch just fine without an online subscription. I guess Nintendo thinks I am using it wrong.
Can you think of a better way to keep it mostly out of the hands of scalpers?

They must enter a unique switch serial number (that corresponds with inventory) to make the purchase? Don't see why it has to be contigent on a subscription.

- Periodically killing mods and fan projects
- going after palworld
- using last-gen hardware in their consoles
- never decreasing prices
using last-gen hardware in their consoles
I mean there’s nothing inherently wrong with that (if only they charged last-gen prices as well lol)
but anyways here’s a bunch more shit they’ve done:
- killing emulation projects
- patenting basic gameplay elements
- sued a man so hard he was forced to pay them part of his income for the rest of his life
- charging full price for basic rereleases
and for a few older ones, just to show that they’ve been shitty this whole time, actually:
- attempting to kill game cheating devices (like the game genie)
- preventing 3rd parties from releasing games on competitor’s consoles, essentially giving themselves a monopoly
- attempting to kill video game rentals

Make enough of them that scalping isn't profitable.

That's a fine solution long term I guess, but things take time to be made.

That would work if serial numbers weren't visible without even opening the box the device came in, and I'm they are even included on the receipt for the device. Scalpers would absolutely have a ton of serial numbers just lying around from unsold devices, or even devices they sold and just hope the owner of won't bother attempting a purchase of the thing they are scalping.

People are going to buy it anyway. There is no amount of abuse a Nintendo fanboy won’t endure.
Average reaction of a Nintendo fanboy to abuse:
Step 1: this is expensive
Nintendo: kawaiiiiii
Step 2: shut up and take my money you cute souless overlord

Initially. Still annoying but title is misleading.
Well that got me all worked up for no reason, didn't it.
Thanks for the clarification.
COME ON, OP!

I need a fucking online subscription to buy a controller???
A controller that is useful only when you have that online subscription to play the back catalogue, yes.

Lol yeah. It makes sense. You don't want your peripheral for the console to sell out to buyers that just want to use it for emulation.
But... I want it for emulation.... Any good reliable 3rd party out there?
-
But you don't have the sub (cheap when sharing a family pack) so you can't play the N64 games anyway.
How I can't play N64 games without a subscription?

PowerA did a good wireless one that also had a second Z button on the other side

I wouldn't go as far a stating that it's mainly a systemic problem. Individual choices also matter to some degree.

In another bullshit move by Nintendo this time around.
Bullshit. They are doing that to cause a fever of pre-orders in the US despite the tariffs. Within a year, they will be on shelves.

Nintendo keeps shooting themselves in the foot. On one hand, as a PCMRer and massive fan of Valve, I'm glad to see how many are open to moving over here. On the other hand, Nintendo was the last console manufacturer I actually liked (despite their anti-emulation crusade) and so it's like a death of an era.
The future really is in console-like PCs a la the Steam Deck and Valve's upcoming Fremont.

Or they will be worth their weight in gold like GameCube Component cables
