Is anyone else bothered by how unaligned this looks?

No, you just need to come to terms with your urge to be a woman.

It is more difficult for gay men who have to accept the fact that women are not gross.

I'm guessing trafalgar square or thereabouts, the side closest to Soho.
Soho (and if you're going by underground stations, Tottenham Court Road/Leicester Square) is the gay part of london... historically at least, I haven't lived there for a while and never tried to check out the gay scene there for mostly obvious reasons.

You could try drag. Or jaywalking.

                      And Vienna

I like the idea of them, but frankly the London ones are a poor design IMO β€” the male/female symbols are too much of a departure from the expected iconography. It also represents a hazard for the colourblind. The other cities listed here have managed to incorporate diversity while still maintaining clear communication.
