      Here's a couple of mine:

George McCrae - Rock Your Baby:

      Mansfield.TYA - Bleu lagon:

The Monkees - You Bring the Summer:

TBH, the last one's a weird example, because I'd already known so many of their classic hits, but the VIDEO on this particular song? Oh gosh...

Exodus is too damn consistent. Most other thrash bands have one or two great albums and spend the rest of their career trying to live up to their hit album(s) - usually unsuccessfully. There are obviously a fair few exceptions, but the majority of bands I discover suffer from this in one way or another.

its ok to just like one or two songs

I think of many one-hit-wonders but the Spacehog song "In the Meantime" is what I will refer to here. I really liked it on the radio when it first dropped. Got the album and was not at all excited about the rest of the songs. Come time, they dropped a new album and of course I had to try again but it didn't even have one song that I really cared for. I sat on the CD for a while and gave them a listen every so often, because that one song is sooo good! maybe I was just not giving the rest of the songs a chance. Yeah no. I listed to their 3rd album before buying it and was content to just listen to one of their songs. Its always in my mix and I love to hear it. But thats the only song of theirs that I like.

Wasn't apprehensive about listening to their other stuff, but imo none of Blind Guardian's other songs come anywhere close to comparing to Wheel of Time, so starting with that one left me pretty disappointed with the rest of their work... which is shitty, cuz a lot of it is still really good, but just didn't meet that insanely high standard set by Wheel of Time.

That's a great way of putting it, and I think usually the case in situations like this.

Which therefore kinda suggests that the bigger and more amazing the song can actually be detrimental for the prospects of fanhood.

From Indian Lakes album Head Void Tapes is so fricken good, I didn't even realize it was a reimagining of their album Head Void and that not a single other one of their albums would sound even remotely like it.
