The absolute WORST

Is this common? I don’t think it’s ever happened to me.
if i haven't had anything or enough to drink before my morning dose, my mouth is dry to the point that taking pills is a problem. some people have dyskinesia in their throat/mouth. so like there's two reasons, i'm sure there are more.

Take a big drink of olive oil before you take your pills and one after! Yummy!
no. balsamic vinegar.

I was once in the plane and I asked the flight attendant to please bring me some water. I wanted to swallow an Omega 3 gel cap. Thinking she wouldn't be long (I didn't fly often back then), I put it in my mouth. It was only a couple of seconds, but the flavour of that thing dissolving is still on my top 5 of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted.

There's a surprising amount of people in here that apparently can't swallow consciously

i accidentally sneezed a gabapentin 800mg (those fuckers are big) up my nose from the back after swallowing it. i don't know how. that was a BAD week
honestly i do not understand how it can even be legal to make such big pills, if absorption rate is a problem then do something else to slow it down and split it into two smaller pills.

you are assuming standard anatomy and that's the first problem

If you have trouble swallowing tablets and pills, even when you drink something to have it go down easier, it might be worth checking out different consistencies of food to go along with it. Many elderly people take their pills in yoghurts and puddings and stuff like that. Soft foods in general also work. A drink should usually help though.
If it's tablets and pills that explicitly need to be taken dry, you could try a swallowing technique called a "chin tuck" where you push your chin towards your chest before swallowing and then swallow while your chin is still tucked. That way, you leave less room/area for the tablet/pill to get "stuck on". It could help but doesn't necessarily have to help.
In any case, it's definitely better if you have the tablet/pill find its way into your stomach so it doesn't just dissolve in your pharynx and have no effect
imagine if they could make pills that are just actually possible to swallow easily..

Preach. I doubt there's too much you can do though given human anatomy and the (lack of) space in the pharynx

you can make the pills smaller, i suspect a lot of pills are oversized because they just use standard molds and add filler. And if the pills need to be absorbed slowly then surely you can just split it into two pills and add stuff that slows absorption..
