why did i read this whole article? this is all you need to know:

“In cycling, 'barefoot-style' doesn't mean riding without shoes, or even ultra-minimalism, but rather refers to design elements such as flat soles, no heel lift, and roomy toe boxes that allow for more natural foot function.”

just ride barefoot if you want nAtUrAl FuNcTiOn, shitass.

I bike in vibram fivefingers all the time and its been great. I'm not sure how this would work for clip in shoes though. The presumably necessary stiff parts would likely make them feel weird.

I will wear them until they become sand. I've worn entirely through the soles of three pairs and I go bouldering in one that I added various rubbery adhesives to as top cushioning. I'm still sad that the leather ankle boots variant was never available in my size.
