Probably odorous house ants (sometimes also called sugar ants). I'm fairly sensitive to their scent, myself and recall being in tears as a small child ~6 because one of them walked across my finger and no amount of washing would get the smell off. I'm not a fan.

I have a blurry photographic memory.

What I mean is that I can remember where/what an item looks like but can’t read it. This was especially lame and stressful in nursing school because during a test I could recall exactly where in the textbook or PowerPoint slide the answer was, but couldn’t “read” it from said memory. Stuff like “it was in the yellow shaded an the lower inner quarter of the page, second and third billet points” or “halfway down the page, highlighted in pink, and next to it was a graphic of the Krebs cycle”
Not as helpful as you might think.

I have a watered down version of this, but I'm a lawyer so it's very very valuable. If I get a question I might not know the answer to, if I've read it somewhere I usually know roughly where to go back to get it. And since lawyers mostly look things up instead of trying to memorize everything, a powerful "indexing" memory is valuable in the profession. At least in my practice.

I think I may have the opposite, at least some times. If I think about it too much I'll feel the emotion way to strongly which is a problem itself.

I imagine that would be really annoying, like how do you process unhelpful emotions; if when you think about them they start back up?

wait i'm a supertaster and i fucking hate ants, if that's the scent i can do it too. well i could if i didn't shitbomb the bathroom so often. but you may have legitimately helped me in my lifelong war against the ants (i'm farsighted i cannot see them until i sit down and they crawl up and bite my jibblies thank you)

I'm really good at smelling food and when it's about to go off. If my nose even picks up a hint of rot that's all I can smell. It's really bad right now because our fridge died so everything smells like carcass in the house right now (even though it's gone).

we grow a medium pot full of lemon balm every season, and we'll grab a handful of that, some rosemary, and some mint, throw it in a pot with some water and let it simmer for half an hour for some homemade potpourri. it's just a coverup, but it's pleasant.

One time I had to wait in line behind this guy who had a very strong metallic odor, it was making me sick. I’ve smelled it a few times since and recently smelled it on my mother. Not sure if it’s a drug. Probably not fear. Very interesting though.

I can count almost perfect seconds. Most people think they can count seconds until they try to prove it.

Like, give me a stopwatch. I can count seconds to within an average of .05 of a second.

I can do this consistently over a long period of time, i gave up counting when i tested it.

It's because i used to have 3 clocks in my living room, and they all used to tick at different times. I guess from when the battery was connected and it would create all these different rhythms.

After many years of hearing these rhythms and noticing the different rhythms that would be made as we changed the batteries over time, i ended up being able to tap the rhythm out on a table/in my head etc and now its just ingrained into my head.

taTA ta... taTA ta... taTA ta...

                    Absolutely useless.

My resting heart rate is very close to 60bpm, so I can use that as a reasonable timer to "wait ten seconds." If I'm up and moving around or even playing an intense video game it's no go but I can do it sometimes.

My sister and I were talking about benign superpowers and decided the X-Men probably have someone like a band director with a superpower like perfect pitch who watches after the school while everyone else is off adventuring.

You have ADHD too? I know what it is, and trying to maintain routines is hell of a hard task.

To be used to do it, you must not learn it the duolingo way (you will forget anyways, even with reminders), but actually find use and interest in everyday life and in your passions.

Get some interest in how wind works (which directions do wind take and why), when there's wind, you will see it’s often the same directions, and you can try to guess its orientation by that.

Also, astronomy (looking at the night sky, you will be used to find the polar star at the same place and will notice that planets always align on the sun path, rising at the east and setting at the west).

You must not learn it, but immerse yourself in it to the point it becomes a secondary nature.

(Yeah this method worked for me for languages and philosophy, which i really sucked at back then, but looking at what i wrote it’s pretty generic, so i hope it at least helped you a little ^^')

I guess we are only talking about the oddly specific ones so.

I like acidic foods so much, that I drank a cup of vinegar once, and survived.

My teeth are also weirdly resistant to decay.

Mine were too, zero cavities at 37 years old with mediocre tooth care, I didn't even floss. Then I moved somewhere they don't fluoridate the water and I also went vegan. No fluoride + low calcium = 3 cavities in less than 3 years. Needless to say I now floss, brush with a fluoridated toothpaste, and take calcium supplements.

I can plug in a USB drive/cable on the first time, successfully, without flipflopping the connector (and then USB C had to come along and invalidate my only worthwhile achievement)

It's definitely not 100%, and I'm rarely waking up at 6am, but I can usually just decide when I want to get up, and wake without an alarm. It's like I can tell the time in my sleep.

I thought this was a special power that all middle-aged people got as their sleep quality gets shittier. Like your brain is still idling, tracking stuff, instead of fully resting.
