Probably not relevant, but for awhile, I was taking Adderall and I realized it would send me doooooown in the evenings when it was wearing off. Vyvanse fixed that, in that instance.

Broadly speaking, I think it's somewhat normal to get a little down at night, maybe? You're tired/weary, you've worked all day, seems somewhat normal, within reason. But it could also be attributable to a lot of things besides just "the night," e.g. poor sleep, not eating enough during the day, extreme horniness, etc...

Coming down off caffeine, longing for a beer, adhd meds wearing off, hangry from a day of labor, bottling work drama to spare your significant other, house is a mess meaning you gotta keep working when you get home, no good food in the fridge. I dunno, seems like everything kinda hits the fan at night. Weekend nights, not so much.

Most modern life in a nut shell...

A lot of issues we face as a society from mental health perspective is very situational as what this comment describes

But there is no way out at the same time so it turns chronic

Thought might have been whooshed by a really subtle pun there.

Edit: Nevertheless, "calm down" is technically correct too

No, I usually get tired during the night. I tend to laugh more easily if I stay up late.

Yeah, easier to get both angry and desolate in the evenings/nights. Also far more likely to give in to temptations, like trash food, candy, alcohol...

After a long day of being in control of oneself and making good choices, that ability gets worn out. It's worse if I've had to face a lot of stress or (mentally) say no to a lot of temptations or make a lot of decisions. At the end of the day I have no more "no"s to give myself.

It also gets markedly worse if I haven't slept, eaten, drank, been outside or taken sufficient breaks that day.

There's also the hormonal aspect, where hormones fluctuate on a daily cycle, which I think might be the reason I crash and want a nap in the afternoon, and get hungry around 23 regardless of if I just ate or not, and is the most focused and calm before noon.

I'm usually grumpy in the morning and feeling rarher down until 15-16, after that my mood gets a lot better, evenings and night time is best for me. If I have to wake up really early I feel just empty.

Elvanse can make the afternoon crash worse and it also causes a depression hour at around 17, I've tried taking half the dose in the morning and half mid-day and it seems to help with the crashes but it also makes the quality of my sleep worse...

The only times I ever get angry is when someone I like is getting slighted. Other than that I'm very calm all the time
