What community would you like to see more active on Lemmy?
-
I suspect most people aren't subbing/following communities on Lemmy. So post the community or topic you want to see pop off. And reader(that's you) if you are interested in that community click the link and follow it.

wrote last edited by [email protected]Lemmy already superseded my expectations with how active it is. That being said, I would love the following to see more action (although I'm mostly lurking there myself):
[email protected] - Loved the discussions on Reddit. As a European, it's not easy to follow the games, so that was a great way to stay up to date.
[email protected] - Mostly carried by /u/[email protected], whose updates are *chef's kiss*
[email protected] - No explanation needed.

Mostly my local related communities [email protected] but unfortunately it is no longer moderated.

Sorry im bad at lemmying still, [email protected] does that work? Maybe the community already died and i can only see it through my local one?
Now itβs not an error, but it says that the community does not exist.

I know with lemmy.world you can ask the instance admins to become a mod of that sub, if you want you could try to do that. Or create a sub on your own instance

you forgot the "!" before the link

[email protected] is still moderated And not on .ml, but smallish because it just moved over there (needed to move over from [email protected] because of .ee shutdown)

I'm not aware of any NYC communities, even inactive ones, on the fediverse, though I haven't looked very hard. That link you provided errors out, if it's supposed to work.
[email protected] is probably the best bet
voxpop.social has shutdown

[email protected] is basically dead, though I am as guilty anyone of not posting more.
[email protected] has seen some posts lately but I wish it was more active.
[email protected] for motorsports.

Shameless self-promotion: [email protected]
It's like "On This Day", "This Day in History", etc. I'm currently the only poster but I don't mind, I enjoy regularly looking for interesting anniversaries.
Post anniversaries on any topic you feel like; even personal anniversaries are allowed!

I'm a fan of these kinds of games, especially Smash Melee. Since leaving Reddit and Twitter, I feel pretty disconnected from them.
I'm trying to learn Japanese as a hobby, and it's slightly unfortunate that there's not much of a community for it here. I think the first two kinda split the userbase by having slightly different focus, preventing a definitive one spot. The third one is decently active though, mostly thanks to just a handful of people. The effort makes a big difference.

One of the most well-intentioned and reasonable spaces to discuss this type of stuff I've found, but posts are not frequent.

And I wanted to add, in general, I think communities here often work better at higher levels. Like in the examples from my post, smashbros is better than just the ssbm community. fgc, more realistic than communities for individual fighting games. Languagelearning > individual language communities, to an extent.
Since the Lemmy user base is small, I think zooming out is helpful. This place isn't Reddit and it doesn't work to try and replicate it 1-to1.

Are you aware that lemm.ee shut down? Any communities will need to be recreated on another instance.

I went there hoping to discuss korean web novels and they don't allow it.
No idea why

Because they are by definition different things. Close in style, sure, but so are YA novels.
Coming as a reddit refugee I just replicated their definition when creating the community. And I still feel the same way since it's not a general "novel" community. If there's a popular demand I'll loose the restrictions.

I think we need to get away from the short format brain rot media that is so popular today, like TikTok and Twitter/X. And light novels are familiar and approachable. Often, people have already seen the anime or seen the manga.
For that matter, even [email protected] could use more activity, and manga is even more approachable than light novels.
I recently started reading a lot of the LNs that are on "catch up" at a website called j-novel club, and it's gotten me to enjoy reading novels more.
Also, the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novel is one of my favorite things I've ever read. It's a pretty long one at 33 volumes, though.

As Myne in the sidebar states: "Y'all better start reading more books!"
