Bought P9ProXL, after having top Snapdragons before. I don't think the current Google CPUs are crap, only if you look in benchmarks. So far it keeps up very well, all is snappy.

My Pixel 7 still runs absolutely fine but I won't lie, I am looking forward to upgrading either this year (P10P) or next (P11P)!

Almost makes sense to skip the 10 series so Google can iron out their new Tensor design, but we'll see soon enough how it performs.

Yep. It's usually only people who check benchmark numbers or have an anti-Pixel bias that think Tensor is a bad CPU. The only issue I've really had with my 7's CPU is thermals, which has improved with every generation (or so I'm led to believe). Even then, it's just having a slightly warmer phone when recording videos and stuff. I'm sure it's bad for the phone's longevity but I've never noticed any throttling. I don't play intensive games on my phone though because gaming on any phone is an awful experience.

Where they may lag behind is powervr graphics and the accompanying drivers though that will mostly be a problem for those interested in running windows software through the developing software and whatever comes of the Debian VM progressing

Hey there. I am planing to buy one. But wanted to know some things

              • Is there any overheating?
              • How is the cellular and WiFi reception?

My Pixel 6 Pro overheated often. So far my 9 Pro hasn't, but it does run warmer than my wife's Samsung.

This matches my experience and the general consensus I've seen online. The 6 series had major overheating problems. Later generations get noticeably warm but not so much that it causes serious problems.

G1 and G2 got hot. G3 less so, and G4 seems to be doing pretty good, though it does get warm at times, especially when loaded.

The G4's thermal profile kinda reminds me of my old Nexus 4's Snapdragon S4 Pro. I loaded that bitch down and watched it soar over 100C many, many times 😅. I undervolted it so it ran a bit cooler. It was truly the perfect device at the time.

Ultimately it comes down to your personal experience. There are going to be people who shit on everything that isn't a top-tier Snapdragon. Don't listen to them. I wouldn't even worry about benchmarks for mobile CPUs - at this point, those are only for people who want to shove it in everyone else's faces.

                            That's just so small!

10 years ago, this was only a dream.

20 years ago, this was nearly physically impossible.

sorry to be the AKTUALLY guy, but the term '2nm process' does not actually mean that ANY part of the device is actually 2nm in length, it is just a marketing term.

I game, watch YouTube, Jellyfin, cut videos,... still cold, not really seeing throttling.
