I'm saying there's a 98% chance he was terrible to his kids. Just a 2% chance that he wasn't, and a 50% chance that even if he was, his kids liked him (when you've seen a person love someone who beats them up, you'll realize that's unfortunately very possible).

I have killed someone in my life. I am not telling anyone to kill anyone either. I am pointing out the pure fact that we have never resolved the progress of human right without violence, and you are naive to think we could do it this time. If you don't want to kill people, I understand, it sucks, I know. However, thinking we can move forward without having violence is wrong, it has been happening for a while. The right has been routinely committing acts of terror for years now. They pulled the peace option off the table a long time ago.

The questioner followed up: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”
“Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk asked

Hi guys! Just because he was an awful person doesn't mean he deserves to die. I am actually horrified by how many people are condoning this, especially when this man has a family and a wife and it's not even like trump when it would have actually done anything for our country. all this has done has made a gigantic fuss and give fox news rage bait.
This is the same man who said gun deaths are necessary for freedom. Who was shot immediately after exaggerating trans gun violence and downplaying the rest of the gun violence. He reaped what he sowed. His death is directly caused by policies he advocated for. I would of course be elated if we did not have these problems in the first place, but if someone is going to die because of this shit, I'm glad it's one of them actively making it worse.
Charlie Kirk himself wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He's quoted saying that empathy is made up and is dangerous. He didn't want my empathy and he certainly didn't fucking earn it.

You were a good Christian man with moral principles with a wife and 2 kids. You were killed by a lunatic while you were exercising your freedom of speech, you were persecuted by your opponents. Some may say that's a form of fascism, the same party that accused you of being.
The violent rhetoric of the left influenced some weak minded soul to take you from your children, and also taken your quotes out of context.
Charlie Kirk never robbed a pregnant woman at gun point, or robbed a bank, or killed a woman on a train, but instead encouraged open conversation between all parties so they could understand each other in a meaningful way.

See the issue with this mentality is that THIS is the mentality of authoritarians. You try to find ways to justify the murder of the people you politically disagree with while not applying the same standard to the people you politically agree with.
What you're doing is helping set a precedent that political violence is justified if you frame it in a certain way. If that's the case then other extremist whackos, including conservative ones, are going to start doing the same thing. What's there from stopping some conservative nutjob from shooting someone like Hasan Piker or AOC or Mamdani or anyone on the left really as a retaliation? After all, if what you're saying here is now passing as a valid justification, then they'll just use your very own justification to justify their own actions.
The things that authoritarians don't understand is that when principles aren't applied universally, the standard becomes subjective, and sooner or later, their abuse of power will come back to bite them in the ass by the very standard they helped establish. I am fully aware that Lemmy is usually off the deep end on politics, but this is too unhinged even for this platform.
Again, he was far beyond “political disagreement.” He was promoting actual, race-targeted violence domestically and internationally. If you’re going to be a Nazi terrorizing your community, you’re going to be a target for retaliation.

Ideological assassinations are a huge step in the wrong direction. Once you open the door to violence in place of speech and exchange of ideas, it's a bad place. Everyone should condemn this. Do you honestly believe it's a good idea to start killing people? Who is next? It's not always going to be people you disagree with, and ANY murders need to be condemned.
