As a 30 year old man, my take is that they’re cute. And they’re smaller than expected, only the size of a cup.
The quality of the original ones is really high, better than the Monchichi back in the days.
I got one for my gf around may, she later won a fake one at a festival.
I don’t know they kind of get the Pokémon formula correct: don’t make it too cool and give it something quirky

they look a lot like old Soviet children's dolls/characters to me. like Cheburashka and Nevalyashka.
