Sync for Lemmy is a good app' if anyone is looking for RIF like experience. Sync
As much as I love Sync, it has been almost a year since the last update.

basically you get banned for arguing against tankies.
as for which instance; where you from? what you into?

I think since coming over here I've done like 2 dozen comments and a handful of posts (on Reddit), but considering I used to post and comment as much as I do here but over there I'd say that's a lot of progress.
I've done over 3k comments and over 3 hundred posts here since joining in June of 2023.
Thank you for your service 🫡
I'm the same as the other guy, my rule is that I only post/comment about Lemmy when I use my reddit acount.
I used to only comment a few times per month when I used reddit but as soon as I started using Lemmy I started making hundreds of comments per month. Especially in the first few months, I got to 1k comments super fast. Since then I've slowed down a bit but still way more active than I was on reddit. This is my alt account btw.
It's so much more rewarding to participate on Lemmy for a multitude of reasons, but mostly because it feels like people actually care enough to read my comments and respond. On reddit it often seemed like shouting into the void. Plus, it's a great feeling to be a part of something that's community based and not just soulless corporate slop. Every time I check reddit, it feels so miserable and I wonder how I ever tolerated that site for so long.

The admins have a long history of banning people across the entire instance who are critical of China, North Korea, Cuba etc. That said, you should be fine and if you're happy with the instance then there's no reason to move. Some users like to make a bigger deal out if it than it really is.
The "ml" in the domain is supposed to represent "Marxist Lennist" which the ideology the instance is aimed at.

I'm a fan of Voyager. Very nice experience in my opinion

As a recommendation, https://lemm.ee/ is good.

The admins and mods of .ml are huge Tankies and censor all content critical of China/Russia/NK and will deny they're even dictatorships let alone that they enforce censorship or any other violation of basic human rights
[email protected] has a bunch of content documenting what they get up to that you might miss if you're not in the modlog, but ironically for a group that complains about censorship they block that comm from all .ml users at the instance level so you'll have to look at it in a roundabout way.
lemmy.world/c/[email protected] should work

Thank you for the reply. The thing is, and I think this will apply to others too, I’m just a casual user. Unknown boxes scare me.
Couldn’t they be hidden away on signup (prefilled) and only visible when you click ‘advanced’.
Also, I have a mastodon account too. Are they now the same thing?

They seem to be blocking access from certain IPs and VPNs (if not logged in?) Which is funny because some of these VPNs are not really hiding anything. Like my work VPN which I would think makes it pretty obvious which company I work for. Annoying when search results link to reddit content.
This what infuriates me the most.
I use a VPN (because my government is insane) and i get a “security warning” if I visit any Reddit post (even old Reddit).
All they’re doing is building a moat around OUR content we created.

I’ve enjoyed it. Doubt I’m using it to its fullest ability. Only on two instances.
You only need the one account, you don't need to sign into other instances.
There can be some weirdness on the web version where if someone uses the wrong type of link then you maybe redirected away and can't interact as you're not logged in.
For example:

You know it’s so simple to just click a different app and go back to infinite scrolling the way I’m used to.
I’m not a fussy user, I don’t get all up in arms over changes in functionality or whatever. It’s also nice not to see orange man on the internet whenever I scroll

It feels more human over here (if that makes sense lol)
And yeah after my initial break from Reddit it definitely feels more insufferable over there.
This is also one of my alts, I've a few but none are used as much as this one by a long shot.

THERE ARE DOZENS OF US!!
But seriously this is good news and I'm glad to have you all here. Lemmy is in a pretty good position right now in terms of having a critical mass of users and decent traction within popular communities. At the very least it feels self-sustaining here.

Just got here and started a regional community for the American Midwest. Come on down!

just a heads up, the instance you're on is pretty controversial.

Oh yeah, lemm.ee is great.
