There's a clear up tick on daily users growing and we've crossed the 50k line as of yesterday! LETSSS GOOO!

hexbear lost its domain and went offline
Hey everybody! This guy KNOWS things! Let's all laugh at the NERD!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
looks around
But seriously, thank you for that knowledge. I learned something today! But, I got this whole comedy bit going here....and the number one rule of comedy is that you have to COMMIT!!!
Hey everybody! Such a mockery this person is within our vicinity! Ha ha ha ha ha! Such comedy to be had at ones expense!

That's really good to see. But it will be far more interesting to see what the numbers are a month and longer are from now. If they don't stick, it's pretty meaningless.
They won't all stick. That's just the nature of things, no site/game/service/what-have-you boasts a 100% retention rate. Hell, not even heroin does. But with every MAU bump, some amount of them do stick around, and with every such increase to the baseline MAUs we get closer to critical mass.
-
They can nazi how bad that is for them either

A lot of folks here are talking about Reddit being shitty but I switched because I'm in Europe and I don't want to enrich especially US Companies off of my personal data.
Then you'll be happy to know that Lemmy is 100% EU funded.
-
I legit got permabanned for implying that fascists deserve the fate of Mussolini.
-
This was me during the APIcalypse. Since joining Lemmy, I have:
- Realized I'm trans
- Procured a Steam Deck
- Started pirating again
- Been on HRT for over a year and counting
- Developed a chronic dependency on Yuri manga
- Lost 50-60 lbs
I hope you have a good time here as well!
If you're not daily driving Arch, btw, did you even join Lemmy?
I know you're not daily driving Arch because you didn't mention it.
(Jokes, obvs. Congrats on the self-discovery!)

Is anyone else just enjoying seeing people create actual user names again and not just using the automatically generated ones reddit has done for awhile?
-
Yep I'm concerned they'll do that too. They'll find some posters in r/conservative that are inappropriate and use that as an excuse to ban. The sad thing is conservative is overall really open to other ideas and open discussion! Say anything not left on reddit and you get torn apart which is horrible.
Wait, the safe space sub where you can't comment unless you're a flaired Trump licker? That's open to other ideas?
-
Then everyone banned or permabanned should end the complain with something like "and I'm opening an account in Lemmy. Farewell".
Oooooh I like that
-

There's plenty of criticism of him there.

Is this something that should be really celebrated? I mean, the reason I joined is because it's not reddit. And I feel that this place will turn into reddit 2.0 if we're not careful.
You can pick a less "reddit-coded" instance. Lemmy.world is pitched as more of a reddit-clone, but other instances have niche subcultures or other fun characteristics like unique emojis. It's less about size and more about policies and structures that cause something to become "reddit-like."

Holy shit, what was a month ago??? Feels like last week.
Didn't they start back up on another domain?
The admins managed to get Hexbear.net back and the sale of the domain was stopped.

If you think about it, what would be the punishment for someone that killed thousands of innocent people in the US? I guess it would be a death sentence. So the person that killed that CEO did exactly the job a non compromised US federal estate had to do.
I see it differently but understand your argument
-

Sure, conservatives are allowed to criticize their godhead - that gives the appearance of a free speech zone. But they sure are the only ones that can without being banned, and it doesn't matter if they do because they will never not vote for the traitor.
-
Does shitjustworks have a rep? So far so chill, I don't think I've heard any controversy about this one.
Every instance has a "rep," sh.itjust.works is generally seen as right-wing.

Ready for this

They were doing surveys with the mods to see if they could tell between real and bot posts. I half wonder if it's by design and they seed their own bullshit with llms. That is my tiny tinfoil hat for the day. I do the surveys and feed them bad data then tell them they suck in the comments and they somehow have not banned me yet from them lol.
