Wondering if this is common with ADHD. maybe not only physical media but just things in general. I for one am not a fan that everything is digital and nonexistent so make it a point to own media I care about on physical copies.

I feel the opposite, I wish more things could be digital. It is convenient and easy to backup.

But honestly I don't think this is ADHD, maybe the fact that it can be taken to a certain absolutist level is the ADHD part.

I long for the physical, but am tied to the digital. If you made me open a disk-drive, put a disk in, wait however long it takes to get something running I think I'd pull my hair out nowadays.

I would say it's mostly because of ADHD that I prefer digital. I don't lose it, it doesn't turn into clutter, I can take it with me without having to remember (e.g. on the steam deck or switch)...

There's the downside of publishers sometimes removing access to the content, but that's more of a downside of bad actors rather than digital explicitly - people who bought The Crew as a physical copy still lost access because ubisoft sucks, not because it was digital.

Ah see, the problem for me with digital is I do lose it. I cannot standardize a naming or file format, so I end up with so much clutter. Id much rather organize my records by artist a to z and be able to physically see it. Maybe im just old

I think that's just you. I'm like the exact opposite of that

Seems like a lot of people do! I guess I jist prefer the realness and not having to worry about it being lost In pile of digital mess or be gone forever if a drive fails then have to worry about 3 backup systems etc...

I remember I bought some tapes a hundred years ago from some sweet asshole (they exist) at some so and such. I used the codes for Bandcamp, and never touched those damn tapes. I swore I would try to curb any of that mindless "quaint" spending. I have, but in general I just wish we had less stuff on this planet as a whole. I love paper. So damn much. It's my favorite thing to draw on. I make sure what I am using is explicitly used, instead of gathered. If you're using your tape-y, tapes - then it's working out. People used tape-y, tapes all the time back in the day. You're not weird, you're just a person who enjoys what they like and like I said at one point what you liked was the norm. Or actually, if you have ADHD - you are weird, cause we all are. So I take that back!

Not sure if related, but I need to see everything I need for a task on the computer. alt+tab or virtual desktops don't do it for me - I need 3 or more physical screens.

Just upped my productivity a lot by having a dedicated screen that always only shows the mindmap with the todos & plan.

Well I don't know if it's tied to ADHD, I just want a copy that I can play on my laptop with my solar charger in the end of days. I have a bottle of johnny walker blue to crack when that day happens.

I never really thought about it, but it's certainly possible. It definitely makes me feel better to have certain things in these uncertain times.
