It just needs to be clear and set close to the max fill line. If it's low and/or dark, it wasn't done right.
Alternatively, if you're in a place dedicated to oil changes, you can assume it wasn't done right.
wrote on last edited by [email protected]They should not have it near the max fill line right after a change. Certainly not all the oil has settled and more will. Especially if they put oil in the filter before adding it like they should. If it's near max, then I guarantee more than max is actually inside there. There's a reason there's a range that's acceptable.

That’s okay, I didn’t like that cylinder anyway.

Good luck

Good thing I have a four-cylinder, it’s only got cylinders 1, 2, 4, and 5!

LOL!
That randomly reminds me of a random post I saw on that other site years ago, goes something like this...
'Get 4 pigs, and paint them with numbers 1, 2, 3, and 5. Then let them loose in Walmart, and after they catch those 4, sit back and watch them look for #4...'

Ooooo that’s vintage! I was told that one in secondary school in the early ‘00s, I think that predates modern internet
…and it’s timeless and awesome hahaha

Transmission fluid is the real “I have no idea what that means” thumbs up.
Because it should hopefully always be clear but it depends where….. and how warm…. And how clean the dipstick was….
(I recently had transmission issues and omfg there isn’t even a light on my car for low transmission fluid wtf??)
Most vehicles don't even seem to have transmission dipsticks at all, now.

Subbed. I encourage you, dear reader, to do the same.

Remember when you could lick the cake mix off the spoon as a kid? Yeah, the mechanics won't let me do that.

A lot still do but they’re not what you’d traditionally consider a dipstick.

Why I change my own oil. Not because I save money--generally don't even before your time is factored in--but because I know how to put on an oil pan bolt without cross threading it.
First time I changed the oil iny car, aged about 17, I put in about 10L then got fed up because it still wasn't filling up all the way to the fill cap.
Ah, red falcon, I don't miss you.
