How many people do you have blocked?
-
Slightly over 100 for me. Along with people I dislike, I also like to block people on a whim even those i never interact with, so my block list is all over the place.
12 instances and rough estimate between 100 and 150 people blocked. Note a lot of them are blocked for posting spam ads or being bots, but a lot are blocked due to behavior. Fuck 'em. I only have so much time on this earth, and I'm not spending any more of it dealing with fuckheads than I have to.

None. I'm not a coward.

I've got PugJesus and like three other people.
My blocked instances and communities, however, are too long to count. Probably well over a hundred.

"build your own echo chamber with this one neat trick"
Because it's easier to build a community without excluding the assholes, and it's easier to build an opinion without including opposing views.

None. I don't remember who I've argued with online the next day. I do have lemmynsfw muted

About 20 people, mostly Nicole variations and a bunch of trolls.
About 175 communities. I have absolutely no interest in sports, anime or related, and I'm very limited in the foreign languages I speak.

I'll start my own echo chamber, with

I sort by all and curate that down to what I want to see. So, lots.

If I block those with frequent trash takes, I won't get to downvote them next time. Other reasonable people would then see their future posts with higher scores.

wrote last edited by [email protected]Not that many, just obvious bots/scams. The app I use has user tagging so I can assign a color tag and text tag per user. Red = for me, do not engage and yellow = for me, engage with caution.
I tend not to block real humans, even the trolls, because often times the responses are interesting to me. I've learned some real facts about my trans peeps here on Lemmy because some people took the time to give informative responses to the community's benefit, despite the question being an obvious troll attempt.
Some of my tags include yellow for "AI slop spreader" and red for "TERFy troll".

One, with another account I'll block if I see them again, but I'm fairly certain they're the same person. These accounts are a teenager asking any sexual question that pop into their mind.
I get being curious, but if you've seen Mickey/Michael around you already know it's a bit much.

I have a few. Mostly annoying ad hominem assholes.

Mildly offended I've only gotten one Nicole spam experience to date. What am I, chopped liver?

I found myself inadvertly doing the same thing. Only my color scheme is far from discipline. My basic think is like: "This comment is making me feel mauve." Done.

Your account is less than one day old. How you do?

Synesthetic vibes, I dig it. Your comment is very forest -> olive green. Which is good, FYI.

"Why is lemmy such an echo chamber?"
Just depends on who you’re blocking. Sometimes it’s objectively obvious who’s just being a troll.
