How to secure your phone before attending a protesta day agoGoing to peaceful protests are useful because it can help you meet some more like-minded folks.
Not to mention sometimes a protest starts peaceful and then goes to shit.

How to secure your phone before attending a protesta day agoThis so much!
Leave all Bluetooth devices at home as well as they have unique IDs that can be tied back to you as well.
And if you're worried about your stereo you can always pull the fuse so it gets no power then put the fuse back when you get home.
Need directions? Print them and DO NOT LOSE THE PAPER!

Where to find posts reshared by me or by others in pixelfed?5 days agoI'd love to be able to just go to my post and see a list of the people who have shared my stuff and links to their shared posts.
For example: 3 people share one of my posts, on the post I click the spot thatvsays how many times it's been shared, and I can see the posts they made by sharing mine.
I hope that makes sense? IDK if it did I'm tired AF right now lol

Where to find posts reshared by me or by others in pixelfed?5 days agoOn the browser version of Pixelfed there's a setting you can get to from your profile page that let's you enable "reblogs" being visible in your homefeed. (It's kinda vague on what that means though)
I couldn't find it on the official mobile app.
Honestly the official mobile app I can't see comments on my posts either.
I'd say the official mobile app needs a little TLC.

The Humane Ai Pin Will Become E-Waste Next Week5 days agoWhen they are accurately called "text generators" and not "AI"
But at this point so many people have been misled by it that it may not be possible to educate those that have already been misled just stop others from being misled.

In depth review validating the credibility of Signal's encryption by a Security Engineer who specializes in encryption.8 days agoPersonally I've never used HeliBoard but from the surface level digging I've done it looks pretty similar and is chasing the same goal as FUTO: a good fully offline keyboard app.
I heard about FUTO and tried it's "voice to text" function and was impressed so I've stuck with it. This function for it is also fully offline vs the default GBoard which sends that voice data to Google to store indefinitely.

In depth review validating the credibility of Signal's encryption by a Security Engineer who specializes in encryption.8 days agoJust be sure to not use the default keyboard on your phone, use one that never connects to the internet.
I'd recommend the FUTO keyboard.

Linux's Sole Wireless/WiFi Driver Maintainer Is Stepping Down - Phoronix9 days agoWireless drivers are in a lot better state than they used to be, printer drivers are very dependent on the brand you have.
IME (YMMV) Brother printers seem to consistently work quite well and Epson printers seem to consistently be shit.

Loops by pixelfied Is Doomed to Fail Because of Daniel Supernault10 days agoYeah a github repo creation date is pretty close to meaningless IMO.
It's the update history that matters.
A project being started, shelved, then revisited later is the name of the game when it comes to me, and I honestly believe that's pretty typical for large projects.

OP really needs to touch some grass.

New Junior Developers Can’t Actually Code.10 days agoLiteracy rates are on a severe decline in the US, AI is only going to make that worse.
Over half of Americans between 16 and 74 read below a 6th grade level (that's below the expected reading level of an 11 year old!)

What does Lemmy think of Daniel Supernault or on mastodon?11 days agoThis so much
Straight up even with how little OP said they seem to be saying, "I harrassed this person online to the point they blocked me on all platforms I had to communicate with them, does anyone else have issues with them?"
OP should treat this as a learning opportunity, touch grass, and enjoy the work of others for what that work is. Don't harass people online folks.
