Casual Conversation

Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.

RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on [email protected]
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Ohh that's where everyone went! Hellooo! I was wondering why I wasn't seeing any posts. Anyway my week is ok. I had one coffee at noon and somehow couldn't sleep and messed up my sleep for 3 days. Guess I'm not good with caffeine

That's awful, but it wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened, and it certainly won't be the last. Comedians have even made stunts/skits out of it with fake art.

Was going to make burritos, but I cook the meat in the crockpot and slept right through my alarm until 2:30 this afternoon and didn't have time to do that. So I got Panda Express instead.

People sometimes forget how powerful shame is, it's an awful emotion and really painful. It's natural to avoid someone who knows something negative about us. You've done amazing getting through that, well done

It's just retro sci-fi. It's more about human emotion, I'd say.

I don't know why, but I think of the Oblongs every time I see Steven Miller's head. Like Milo grew up to be him or something lol

Yeah I lost a job as cook because I served a French dip without au jus. This was during a transition period between owners, so the menu and stock was in chaos constantly. For some unknown reason we started making our au jus with beef base instead of a dedicated au jus mix like we'd been doing for over a year at that point. Nobody informed me about the change, so I just assumed we were out and pushed the French dips out. Next thing I know, I'm sitting with the owner's husband 'explaining myself' about how I could make such a colossal mistake with a 'high profile' customer. Nobody ever informed me about the recipe change, Nobody told me that this specific customer was 'important'. I explained this to him, but he still said "we'll find something else for you to do" and proceeded to never schedule me for anything else. So I took a job working at a competitor down the street (who is wildly more successful for reasons you can probably imagine) and I'm much happier not having that boss anymore. Best part is that apparently my old boss is SUPER salty that I found a job elsewhere so quickly, I guess they thought they had me by the balls since I live in the trailer park out back.

31 I mark an email as unread when I need to get back to it — basically using it as a to-do list.

We found it a bit less engaging than S1, but picked up a lot more context on what they were conveying.
