I disagree. Yes there can be good intermediate steps, but deleting slop is not nearly as healthy as locking a phone away. Interruptions Not just phone calls or texts, but things like typing an email on the phone and then seeing a text. Brains hate interruptions. Those are still going to exist. Resisting a temptation is exhausting. Its NOT the same as boredom. It's like saying "not eating candy is healthy"... yes but having a candy bowl right next to your desk is exhausting. Uninstalling an app is like moving the candy bowl to a nearby room, yeah its better, but it only takes 30 sec to reinstall. Turning off the dopamine machine (not eating candy) is one thing. But Eddy was showing something a lot bigger than that: he didn't have the code to the safe. He was showing the mental benefits of not needing to resist a temptation.

That explains in my older experiment the community fediverse as a user and I could get my posts properly tied to a hashtag. I need to try again!

Bluesky isn't part of the Fediverse, it uses the AT protocol, not ActivityPub or the likes of it.

I'd like to know what you're saying is eu/usa propaganda on lemmy. As far as I've seen, people here are extremely anti usa at a minimum.

taking care of bad servers is instance admin business, you're conflating the user concerns with the instance owner concerns generally this thread and previous ones have such bad takes on fedi structure: a federated and decentralized system must delegate responsibility and trust if you're concerned about spam, that's mostly instance owner business. it's like that with every service: even signal has spam, and signal staff deals with it, not you. you're delegating trust if you want privacy, on signal you need to delegate privacy to software. on fedi to server owners too, but that's the only extra trust you need to pay sending private messages is up to you. if i send a note and address it only to you, i'm delegating trust to you to not leak it, to the software to keep it confidential, and to the server owner to not snoop on it. on signal you still need to trust the software and the recipient this whole "nothing is private on fedi" is a bad black/white answer to a gray issue. nothing is private ever, how can you trust AES and RSA? do you know every computer passing your packet is safe from side chain attacks to break your encryption? you claimed to work in security in another thread, i would expect you to know the concept of "threat modeling"

This sounds like a client problem. Modern Lemmy has community blocks as part of the insurance user profile. Have you tried web client or another app?

If AI would be a thing for things like translations, I would not want it to be messages or replies, I would want it to be part of the UI and labeled as AI content. Otherwise it's noise and slop in my opinion.
