It's a credit card, you can dispute charges and will likely get a refund. I've done it a few times for different reasons.

I really liked Blue Prince and was recommending it pretty heavily. Unfortunately, I eventually got tired of the RNG involved with hunting for clues. I made it pretty far into the late-game puzzles, but doubt I'll ever properly finish it at this point. The game was definitely fantastic right up until it wasn't, and then it felt like a chore.

This is objectively untrue (I see that you didn't watch the Nakey Jakey video I posted earlier in the thread). There was a mission in GTA 3 where you were supposed to assassinate someone. The game wanted you to wait for them to get into their car, follow them for a bit, and then take them out in a secluded spot. What smart players did instead was simply steal the target's car, rig it with a bomb, and then return the vehicle before the target even noticed it was missing, killing them instantly when they started the engine. Try to do something similar in GTA V, and you'll fail the mission for "leaving the mission area". Older GTAs didn't give a fuck how you accomplished something, so long as it gets done. In V you have to do everything exactly how the devs intended you to or you fail. I miss having the freedom.

I think there is a significant difference between sex being part of life and cramming it into every piece of media. I don't want to see shitty sex scenes in movies, books, games, etc. They're almost always awful and shallow.
  • I thought that was a surprisingly interesting and nuanced read.

Cyberpunk 2077 could have actually been way more sexploitative if it would be true to its setting The fact that we can't get cyberware for our junk was quite disappointing when I first played the game.

The more people realise that currency isn't the only possible form of payment, the better. Time, physical and mental energy are three of the most common things people trade, above money. I tried to check the definition of 'currency' with Oxford English, but they require an account and subscription before being a dictionary. I would use Collins, but it's riddled with adverts (empty squares and "We don't like ads either. Pay us and we'll make them go away") and that's above my budget. Cambridge is still useful, thank fuck.

Setting an $80 standard for games just means nintendo and MS are telling gamers if they want to play on release, AAA game publishers have their blessing to charge more... Not that they couldnt before. I really feel like nothing will change. Companies like EA and Ubisoft will continue to tier off content until a full game actually costs $120 on release. They've been doing that for years at this point. Sure that includes dlc thats released after launch, but these games are essentially released before they are feature complete, with the DLC beginning development before the game even releases. This content is intentionally tiered off to create the system that seemingly justifies charging $120+ for all of the game's content. Games that are feature complete can justify whatever price with whatever their perceived value is. The market levels itself out this way, and games will eventually be on sale for their actual value. Example - Ubisofts Avatar complete edition game is on sale for $20 a year or 2 after release. Patient gamers here will always benefit, although it is possible we might feel the price floor rise slightly along with the ceiling. That alone is enough to be irritated about... But at the end of the day, what you will hear everyone say is the same thing we have heard 1000 times: vote with your wallet.
  • He does not agree with the narrative that game prices needs to increase.

Idk... 80-90% of a game isn't the code that is doing all the real work of making it a game. Most of a game is art, music, sound, etc. Things easily made by AI that would not affect the playability of the game. That's why credits for games are hundreds to thousands of people who worked on art-central parts of the game, and the programming team is like 3 dudes. Big companies would like to have just the 3 dudes. Especially since they understand code and can serve as IT for the AI art "team."

why didn't they shut it down in January then. there's WAY more to the story than this. They gave the dev 8 years to develop this. and Valve already has a historical track record of letting other devs work on their IP (Nvidia making RTX remasters of valve games, Valve LITERALLY letting the Black Mesa devs basically sell half life 1 remastered on THEIR STOREFRONT.). You cannot absolutely trust the devs words either entirely. the fact that there are other users who believe the story of the hacky work around even when the announcements in other pages can only exist if theres a shred of truth in it, or you think valve is legitmately having a disinformation campaign, because these users have nothing to gain from for a free mod being canceled. I'm not remotely saying valve is a good person in this situation, but you're giving the devs way more leniency than they currently deserve. Reminder back in 2022, the devs were given essentially access to the source engine code, and already had the decision back then knowing that their only two options for their project (at least in the way they were designing the mod) was to either do a hacky method, or cancel the game(their own words). the game wasnt canceled till 2024, so you can put 2 and 2 together to know what they ended up deciding in 2022
