Well, I'll admit I'm older and perhaps less sensitive to that notion than I should be - particularly as I never heard that term until the past decade or so. There are times when I can definitely see the issue, and then there's times like this that I just don't - or just think the sensitivity towards the topic is being taken too far beyond reasonable expectations. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the point.

Bitcoin is a pyramid scheme because it only keeps its value as long as people are constantly buying it. If no one wants to buy it, the value of any amount of bitcoin is zero. This is why people who have bitcoin are trying to convince anyone else to keep buying. Your local government-backed currency does not have this problem, because you get paid with it, you pay taxes with it and vendors in your country have to accept it.

This reminds me of one time earlier this year I went to get some food which required me to get on the highway and then a main highway. The main highway is a 2 min drive to the next exit, and it's directly off the exit. So the entire trip is about 10 min. I got food, got back on the highway, and started thinking about stuff and not realizing I passed the exit to go back home. I then forgot exactly how bad that was because the next exit was 20 min away with no turn and full divider. So that dumb mistake cost me 40 minutes of time, and im basically screaming at myself the entire time for being a dumbass.

Do they contribute? If they make money with the data, they should.

PS. I am rarely touched by the death of strangers, even if they entertained me. This gesture touched me as someone who has often complained about common culture being "private property". I don't begrudge any creator their money, but they need to accept that at some point, their work also belongs to the fans who made it theirs. True. I personally know two men who have experienced long term physical and emotional abuse from a female partner and neither would ever report it. One still takes the blame for it, the other says it's not as bad if a woman does it to a man and he knows he won't be believed anyway.

Whenever the cats that have been in my life are doing dangerous stuff like that I hiss at them and chase them off. It's very effective at getting them to stop trying to kill themselves and it doesn't seem to upset them longterm
