I have had the same thought before. Unfortunately conservation of energy is not enough to ensure entropy is monotonically increasing. Say you created a tiny universe with the same average entropy of our universe and then you connected it to the edge of our universe. Energy is not conserved because you just added some, but entropy is because you didn’t create an entropy potential. Say you had a warmer object and a colder object and you took all the heat energy from the cold object and added it to the warm object. The energy of your system was conserved, but its entropy decreased, violating the second law. You can use violations of the second law to violate the other laws because entropy naturally wants to increase due to probability (which cannot be violated without destroying math and logic etc.). In the scenario above, if you put some fluid between the two objects you could harness convection via a turbine to harvest energy. Even though your action of moving energy around didn’t create or destroy energy, it created a sort of entropic potential energy. Kind of like how teleporting an object to a higher elevation doesn’t really increase any energy in the universe since all mass and kinetic energy were conserved, but you’ve now increased the potential energy of the object which would become kinetic energy as the object falls back down. You could then harvest infinite energy if you repeated the cycle. In order for one to move energy around via magic without violating entropy, one has to increase the entropy of the universe by at least the same amount it would take to move that energy without magic. The solution I thought of was just that magic accelerates the expansion of the universe. Technically this still allows for some “impossible” stuff locally, like a perpetual motion machine or free energy generator that will eventually die but on the timescale of human lives seem infinite. Magic would get weaker with use over time as the universe nears it’s equilibrium temperature, and you would be shortening the lifespan of the universe every time magic is used. But even if you used it excessively, you probably wouldn’t be shortening the lifespan of the universe by very much unless you were using magic to like move black holes around or rearrange galactic clusters.

Guess I'm lucky with mine. They may not directly attack, but point out roaches every few days. And despite being in a tiny apartment, they don't try to escape even when signing for a package or pizza.

While I agree with the sentiment, that's what I found odd, the people weren't the usual bootlickers (hence my surprise) however I do think it was a sense of decorum, like it wasn't the place to ask such a thing and what answer do they expect to get anyway. Still though, fuck em, speak truth to power.

Well for me it was just teen Internet joke, and I really liked the idea "men who don't care about others opinions and live life however he wants" and I usually wasn't misogynistic or something. Like I wasn't perfect, probably did had some bad thinkings during that periods but never was straight up bigoted. Eventually I found out I might be trans.

It taught me later on in life that mothers want their baby's genitals to look like the genitals they've seen, and fathers want their babies genitals to look like theirs. Initially I was told it was for religious and/or hygiene reasons, And while the religious reasons are still there in the religions the hygiene reasons are pretty much negated by taking a daily shower and having good personal hygiene. I also learned later on that it was probably done initially to lessen the pleasure that you would get from masturbating. And if they could lessen the pleasure you get from it maybe you would do it less since the people at the time when it was put into regular practice thought that you touching yourself was the worst thing you could do.

The majority of humanity really believes in all seriousness that you can think magical thoughts and wishes in your head that an invisible, unprovable being hears. And they all see quite clearly that sometimes the wishes come true and sometimes they don't - just as would be statistically expected if the being didn't exist. But they completely ignore this by simply interpreting every outcome as the will of this being. This is an intellectual dishonesty and a blindness towards empirical reality itself that is downright astounding when you think about it.

Selbstchen, surely. Which also has the dubious honour of having six consonants in a row. Or Selbstli if you're fancy?
