great! thanks for the reply. one other use-case that crossed my mind is an ability to write simple API requests in the GUI. for example, if you want to automatize a bunch of requests within the app itself, or control the format of its response to requests by an external app (basically tunneling them through your app). not sure how useful it is to others, and perhaps this is more easily achievable by simply writing a python script. but I think some ai companies do have this built in to their web interfaces.

Yes, I tend to keep relatively long chats with LLM. Spedially when using reasoning models the chat history grows quickly. So being able to search for some text string in a given chat would be helpful. But I understand this might be a not so common use case. Awesome that you already have file sharing, I will be sure to take a look!

It's definitely worth keeping an eye on. Keep in mind that the name of the fork currently under active development, TrilliumNext Notes, will soon change to just Trillium Notes, like the original software it was forked from, according to the release notes of the latest version (0.94.1).

I’m a designer and I never thought of how it influences typos, that’s a neat tidbit

I’ve been thinking about some similar use cases recently and came to the conclusion that it’s ultimately about packaging. All the functionalities that are needed are fairly readily available (other replies here have aome good suggestions in Nextcloud and self-hosted Odoo), but the real challenge is to make it easily deployable into and accessible for the community. My thinking was specifically for the idea of easily connecting and organising building tenants. I want to get to the point where one (or a few) tenants can get together, set up a single boxin a flat in the building, and distribute QR codes to the other tenants that will allow them to access some kind of virtual building community hub. If you’re reliant on a lot of technical know-how to set up or maintain this, that’s going to severely limit its usefulness.

There's other methods of preventing scraping rather than requiring us to give up our data to view the content. Maybe they're perfect and it doesn't get sold or abused, but how can we know that for every single site? Also, how to we know it's secure forever, even when they enahitify in the future?

I want to think here that this is more about not knowing about licenses than malice. They did open it. If open source developers can now keep the tax code updated, you're all golden

@ToadOfHypnosis Not sure, I know that the rules really benefit the IRS, I should've owed $1800, but after that, interest (starts on the day it was due), penalties, and fees, I owed $4200. Nice racket they got there.

It means that any company can take that code, modify it (as would be required every year per IRS tax changes), and resell it without being required to publish the source code changes. What many European countries are doing is requiring the government to publish code under a copyleft license. That would allow companies to also benefit from this code to make their own tools (which they could also sell), and it would require them to publish the source code of their improvements. Basically copyleft legally ensures collaboration. Public domain does not.

If you think about it, this was perhaps the most humane way to conduct war. No humans were harmed in this attack, and the ability to harm humans was severely degraded. You had drones smash into unmanned airplanes. Nothing but money and hardware was lost. This is the utopian version of war if such a thing could ever exist. One country removes another country's ability to harm humans with nobody getting hurt and everyone gets to go home.
