Personally I won't use a site that wants to scan my face. My computer doesn't even have a camera. I am also not going to upload a scan of my ID. We are on Lemmy for goodness sake. Clearly I care at least a little bit about my privacy. It seems to me that there is no good way to ensure that children are kept away from content they shouldn't have access to without serious privacy concerns.

I think we're going to get a strange three tiered internet, one where you have the mainstream social media platforms etc, one that is just AI SEO bot hell and one that is buried and only really used by enthusiasts. (For example, IRC isnt dead yet not by a long shot but its entirely technical people now using it).

On a certain level, privacy always was a luxury. Through most of human history, you lived bumcheek to jowl with othet people. The trick is, now it's a different beast. Corporations have the ability to be much more powerful in their invasions. As for your specific situation, there are some VPNs that try to hide that you are using a VPN. I think proton has something like that. I forget what it's called. And you could technically go VPN on VPS and get a much easier time but you'd have to switch it out all the time if you wanted anonymous-at-server browsing, and you'd have to pay for the privilege which comes back to privacy as luxury.

It's on the todo list. Like I mentioned in the parent post, it's far from finished.

On, I have and have used it. Thank you. But as far as the host server that you hit is comcerned, whether you block the fonts via uBlock or do not fulfill the server request via Local CDN, they will still use it to profile you, because you tag yourself in the minority of users in the world that do not hit the Google font servers. And Google knows this. Since even most adblock users still do not block fonts or other assets like this. Albeit I do as I use uBlock on Medium mode, including fonts. And I dropped using Local CND as to minimise my extensions footprint. The main gain would be for the site's aesthetics as you host some assets locally, but from a privacy perspective, you are damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Albeit you are damned a little bit less if you do. LOL

thanks for your honest feedback. ive had feedback that people dont know what my app does before. its actually why im in the process of rebranding to Glitr. it used to be called (and kinda is "positive-intentions"). its very early days in the rebranding process and your feedback helps to guage how im doing. its clear that more needs to be done. those pictures at the bottom will be removed. i was already on the fence about it. i put it there to add a splash of color to the landing page experience. as for open source and f-droid. the project is developing in a way that open source isnt sustainable and so i branched out to this project. open source and f-droid are still on the table for a separate and more advanced project (https://github.com/positive-intentions/chat). i think im confusing people by mentioning it at all. i hope to work towards functionality to make my app as easy and intuitive to use as destiny. i try to be clear in things like my post that its a work in progress to help manage expectations.

Yes, but more usefull apps which reveal the real URL of QR and short links. These avoid a lot of bad surprises. I don't like the "I'm feeling lucky" in links, less in current times.

Can't see anyone replacing my on-device p2p libre apps with an app/service only they control. Try taking payment before making something no one asked for. This isn't about OP. Lots do this worse than OP.

That is your choice but not helpful for a privacy space or our devices.
