Teams is kind of awesome of what you want to do is exchange emojis and funny gifs with your co-workers. Not so much if you want to work. I miss the days when applications were coded like applications, not like web sites. The ammount of clutter that goes behind the scenes to get a simple OK button on screen these days must be mind numbing.

Thanks for the link. I just setup joplin and joplin server. I migrated all my old samsung notes to joplin. Sadly I still can't replace OneNote. There is no open source alternative for an infinite canvas with proper custom server based sync that helps to resolve conflicts. Logseq looks pretty good but the server sync implementation is not open source.

Thanks for the respectful discussion! I work in ML (not LLMs, but computer vision), so of course I'm biased. But I think it's understandable to dislike ML/AI stuff considering that there are unfortunately many unsavory practices taking place (potential copyright infringement, very high power consumption, etc.).

It's not even that it's low-tech. Tape is high-tech, it's been updated over the years. LTO10s are targeting 36TB of data per tape. It's the pig-ignorant newbies thinking "hurr durr tapes are 1970s tech". Hard drives are also 1970s tech. They have their advantages and disadvantages, is all. They're not well suited for situations where you can't guarantee a clean room (or enclosed tape reader), for instance, since the tape medium is exposed to the air. Dust can mess it up REAL good. But for some situations, it's indispensable.

Also it was that fact that he stopped in the middle of whatever crisis or serious event to fly somewhere and play golf and take a day off. Them do it again a few days later while the crisis is looming. Like flying to Cancun in a state blackout, but people don't care.
