What are some "slow" shows?
-
Wait, help me understand. I see it on cartoon hangover on YouTube still. But it does seem like something is missing from what I remember. did they remove the original episodes?
wrote on last edited by [email protected]This is a link to the original pilot on the cartoonhangover channel from 11 years ago.
This isn't the song that made me cry btw, that one was the jellyfish hair song.
Edit: found the original season 1! not watched it yet but it's from 10 years ago, so it should be it.

wrote on last edited by [email protected]Original Lazy In Space Season 2 here and original season 1 is in the list too.
I really should have just linked you here in the first place, youtube is horrible these days.

Detectorists
My lil comfort show
-
Sort of relaxed, slow-paced, not a ton of plot.
Home Movies (cartoon)
Schitt's Creek
Corner Gas
Painting/Fishing with John
Father Ted
If you're not opposed to anime: Frieren.
Totally chill, nothing complicated, hardly any plot arcs, pure bliss.

The Wire is one of the best tv shows ever made and it’s a slow burn especially in season one
-
Man how has no one said Friends? That's basically a white noise machine on loop for our house.
Friends is a really funny show if you skip over all the Ross and Rachael garbage. Chandler and Monica was a better love story.

Father Ted
- Community
- The Good Place
- Better Off Ted
- The Trailer Park Boys
-
Burn Notice, Royal Pains
Basically anything made during the heyday of USANetwork. “Dramas” without intensity.
Psych probably too

wrote on last edited by [email protected]Nichijou and High Maintenance are two that come to mind. Sort of opposite ends of the spectrum, but both are slice of life shows that are much more about vibes than plot.
Also if you like Home Movies then Dr Katz is a must

Cosmos by Carl Sagan. It a science miniseries that I love dearly, but it’s like video Quaaludes.
The sequel with Neil deGrasse Tyson is also really good.
-
We do not acknowledge the existence of Netflix's The Electric State

The Red Green Show
Easy-going comedy with minimal plot, mostly there to tie together an episode of shorter skits. Some Boomer humor, but not too cringe, I think.
-
I gotta throw Scrubs in the ring here. Skip season 9.
It ends at season 8, there's no season 9
-
IT crowd is neat.

You wouldn't download..
So many great things. Even the later episodes even if it's no longer IT much

The Simpsons comes to mind. There's usually a plot, but it's not too complicated and each episode is self contained for the most part. Seinfeld is similar with possibly less plot (it is a show about nothing after all).

Yup, I don't know what I was thinking. Must have been thinking of some other show with 9 seasons. 🥸

I'd argue anything is a slow show if you watch it in a slower cadence. Our current lunch run rotates between the following shows on different weekdays:
- I Love Lucy
- Parks & rec
- Mary Tyler Moore
- Only Fools & Horses
- Corner Gas
- All in the family
- Big Train
I didn't grow up in North America and have never seen some of these older "classics", so its been fun. Cheers was in there for awhile, but we noped out in S6 when the stories got too silly.
Corner Gas is a favorite of mine
-
Rewatching Malcolm in the middle, has a lot of the same comedy style, I'm willing to bet same writers. Good shit all around.
Sometimes I don't understand downcotes.
Malcolm in the middle is one of the best series ever.
(imho seriously) -

I saw someone else mentioned Kim's Convenience which is also on my list.

wrote on last edited by [email protected]burn notice was my favorite for USAnetworks, then they did a small hiatus thats when i stopped watch. suits was right after BN, i never got into it, and its dramatized version of a law show, compared to other law shows. RP was interesting take on a doctor-esque show, too bad i lost interest when they did a wierd hiatus between the final season.
