A job well done. Hope you got the beer you deserved (or something to your taste)

I could talk toilets for hours. When I bought my house I spent a week pulling the 6 toilets out, scrubbing them outside, installing all new hardware and gaskets then reinstalling. -Only to find they were all horrible toilets.
I started replacing them one by one trying different brands and options. My favorite is the Champion one piece. It's a beast to install because it's literally one giant piece of porcelain. But that also means less chance for a leak in 30 years.

I just had to replace the gasket between the tank and the bowl, along with bolts and fiber washers, because one of ours failed and leaked water from the tank onto the floor, damaging the hardwood. Protip: you need to tighten those three bolts more than you think.

Is that something like vinyl on a board? Pre-mounted linoleum, almost.

What makes them horrible toilets?

Quilted Northern bathroom tissue is made by Georgia-Pacific, which is owned by the Koch Brothers. Quilted Northern helps fund the Heritage Foundation which wrote Project 2025 and ushered in this new age of fascism.
Could I bother you to try a different brand? Charmin is an excellent alternative.

Charmin is an excellent alternative.
We used to use Charmin until they started doing pop up ads.

I like the rope trim along the log wall. A creative way to fill the gap!

I'll throw my weight behind Who Gives A Crap. It ships to you directly on a subscription service and it's made of bamboo.

I had one with super old innards where the flapper came off but it could not just have the flapper changed so had to do the full repair kit thing. So even duller since did not have to actually lift the toilet just the tank. But it was this last weekend.

I just don't need to be advertised to in those moments in my life.

About 8 months ago I put in one of the giant one piece porcelain toilets. I got it at Costco in Canada and brought it back to the States. That was an interesting trip through the border crossing back into the USA.
CBP: "Anything to declare?"
Me: "No booze, weapons, or tobacco, but I do have a brand new toilet in the back"
CBP: "You're free to go"It was cheaper than any other dual flush single piece toilet I could find here in the States and I've liked its performance in the months since putting it in service.

Not what I was expecting from "pop up" given the context... but ya know what? I'm okay with that.

During the 90's water usage limits were placed on toilets. Instead of improving the design, manufacturers only made the tanks smaller which didn't provide enough flushing force.
Anything more than one piece of toilet paper could cause a clog.
Current toilets use a larger flush valve or multiple flaps for a more powerful flush than a 1970's toilet while using half the water.

If you get around to caulking around the base, remember to leave rear section open. It'll allow you to see the puddle of water if there is ever a leak from the wax/foam ring failing.
